Virtually all collabs are meh. Period. A collab in the beer world is basically not worth the paper it is printed on. There are exceptions, but they are exceedingly rare.

oh, I know. I said there were exceptions. It’s not always true. But we have all had many collabs that were terrible, and they outnumber the good by a lot. Also, it is rare that the collab is better than what the brewery normally puts out. It is usually a lower tier. Again, not always, but usually.

I don't disagree. It's like a supergroup. The sum is almost never better than the parts.

If this was a rev thread, I hope you would have had the presence of mind to say, 'stoopergroup".

Finally made it up to the taproom for pick-ups, DB2x4 was even more killer than expected. Sadly they tapped out of On and On Pecan Vanilla (only the ‘normal’ was on tap) but damn did that 2x4 hit the spot.

Any sense when there if would be on for a bit longer? Might swing over if so.

It was still on last night if anyone wondering. Had 5oz and thought it was OK — would never have guessed ratings as high as they are.

Relatedly, I tried calling ahead of time to ask, but no one picked up. I think I’ve probably tried calling 4-5 times over the years and never once reached someone. Could understand not having someone on phones if, for example, you kept a fairly up-to-date menu online (beer was last updated April 3). With a number of other experiences I’ve had there, and the fact that a similar place like Rev does it all so well, sometimes I think they just don’t give a shit. I don’t get it.

Tried WayBird hazy IPA at Kumas Corner yesterday… nice, balanced hazy. Not too sweet or too dank. My tastes have been getting back into IPAs more recently, so thinking I need to schedule a date to visit HA and Hop Butcher taprooms sometime this summer .

Kenosha Woodman's has Beer Hates Astronauts 4pks ringing up at $12.89. Felt like I was stealing the stuff at that price.

It sounds like a steal, but that's such a silly statement. That's what beer used to cost. I can see WC IPA costing up to $16.99 due to inflation and increased dry hop charges, but anything beyond that is nuts.

Not being a chicago native, how long has it been since you've seen a 6-pack of 12oz or a 4-pack (16oz) go for $12.89? I remember back when I first really started to see craft come about, and it seemed like $16 was a lot closer to average. That was back in 2013-2015. I Think I was paying $10-12 for a 6-pack of Abita back then. I'm not including large regional or nationally distributed brands like Bells or Founders in this, as that seems like a different classification.

Maybe I just have a poor memory?

BHA itself has always been a pricier offering from Half Acre fwiw. I believe ~15.99 since it's fully shifted over to cans (2017 or so). It's listed at Binny's currently at 16.99. Interestingly, HA did a one time can packaging back in 2014 and priced it at 12.99 for that limited release but then went back to bombers I think until 2017 as noted.

And how much were the bombers back in the day? $10? For 22oz? So $12.89 for a 4 pack totalling 64 oz of BHA today looks like a steal no matter what you compare it to- decade ago or today.

I can say with confidence the standard flagship case prices didn’t really start taking off until 2018 or 2019. I remember half acre bringing the price of core brands up 3 dollars a case, which made 4pks a 10.99 at bottle shops instead of 9.99. By late 2020, practically everyone had taken price increase. The cost of ingredients still hasn’t dropped 4 years later
