Maybe use the search function...here is a thread you started in 2018. Don't think it was true then, and not now either, but oh well.

Just today had this from a local, Great Heights. Enchantment Under the C Hops. All west coast hops of course, plenty dank and bitter. It is also 9% ABV.

Here is another one I had last week at another local brewery, Baileson's. Strongly Related, which is really dank and resiny, pine, grapefruit. 7.1% ABV.

Also not picture, but went to Equal Parts Brewing, another local with some friends on Friday. Plenty of west coast IPA's. Even an all Cascade hopped pale ale.

Brother Raul, hie thee thy tastebuds to a La Cumbre 'Elevated'...perhaps its beauty lies in not advertising its pedigree as a 'west coast IPA', but, damn, if it doesn't fit the bill...

I often reminisce about Moylans Hopsickle, man what a beer that was in my early IPA days

    Had it:

    4.19

On tap at Mtucci, Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Yes. Raul finally did it - La Cumbre Elevated. And now I bet you are wondering: did it elevate Raul? You got it! Like Primal Scream Shooting Speed and Killing Light, Raul is feeling good with this one. Georgia O’Keefe on peyote? Maybe not. But what really could take me there? (Candice Swanepoel in a onesie, that’s who - Don’t tell Mrs Raul!) Anyway, it’s a goodie. And Raul feels goodie. And let’s try and be goodie together.

How long has PP been making this IPA? Upward of 30 years now? I'm thinking they might be on to something.

Check out my review of it (I was suffering from palate fatigue when I first tried it. And I’ve never got around to update my review).

Pizza Port still carries the torch for all things West Coast IPA. Half the stuff they brew not labeled WCIPA still taste like Simcoe. That’s the level of dedication.

Maybe you missed the "maybe a little citrus" before the if clause you quoted from my post.

West Coast IPAs typically don't have fruit flavors or aromas beyond citrusy notes. Maybe a little pineapple or grape or blueberry if galaxy or nelson or mosaic is present, but those hops aren't typically used in classic west coast IPAs anyway.

I might not be able to find a ton of packaged West Coast IPAs locally, but a lot of my local brewers still do them and do them well.

As evidenced by responses to this thread, WCIPAs are not dead. This is not an original thought, but to the degree they are in intensive care, or on life support, I attribute it to the fickleness of beer consumers—yeah, all of you—and the willingness of many breweries to chase the latest fad. I wish more beer makers had more of a “this is what we do” attitude and played to their own unique strengths, but on some level I can understand why they try to follow the herd. Unfortunately, the result is a lot of mediocre beer that no one is happy with.
