An early jump on the 2024 'Guess-which-label-is-real?' game. A potential 'Rare' variant this year?

Why wouldn’t they utilize the traditional green rare label for rare if it was real?

The Single Barrel label feels like maybe they are going to let some retailers(?) pick a single barrel, hand write the labels and sell them like a store pick Bourbon. Which I think would definitely be exciting for the people like us who like to compare and contrast vintages.

Gee, I wish someone would buy GI back from AB-InBev.

Good call. However I would imagine they’ll just print the retailer and bottle count on the bottle as hand writing would be expensive at scale.

So far so good. No weird spices or fruits or fucking TEA. I hope they go all in on the single barrel variants. The reserves are always solid but that cask finish sounds like a winner.

A recent 'Triple Blend' label for those keeping score at home.

The skeletons in the pool were believable, this seems like an a.i. creation.

I bought a bottle of triple mash based on @Squire ’s recommendation 2 years back. I actually dislike it quite a bit. Thankfully, I don’t think the whiskey has a strong enough flavor that it will impart enough of a unique flavor to make this unenjoyable. Also, I’m sure they did a small batch run or something to understand how the pairing would play out, so I’m sure it’s not bad. Gotta trust them. The single bottle series (for lack of a better term) have all been quite good; no reason to question it now.

Pretty sweet deals found at Schaumburg Binny's. I guess this going until June 3rd, maybe at all stores?

I overbought on BCS in the hey day because I love reg BCS… I just accumulated too much. So, now a days I try to drink through what I’ve got before buying more. For a few years I was buying a case of reg every year because it ages well… which caught up to me. Always excited for the new stuff and I’m sure I’ll try them all.

Side note: I am super bummed that FOBAB is no longer BCS preview. Last year they barely brought any of the new stuff. That was one of the main draws for me and I’ve been going since 2014 sans the FOBAB from home. I think I’m going to skip this year.

Looks like it finally time to get a bottle, or two.

I'm more disappointed each year with this. It's not the only draw but I really did enjoy getting to try them before they came out.

Good spot. Yeah looks like a Binny's BCBS Blowout on everything except 2 Year & Prop from their website.

I was at LP yesterday and these were DEFINITELY not that price. Must’ve built the display and then the prices took effect today.

Haha I was actually all the way down there last weekend and thought the same. Figured I missed it by a week. Definitely would've bought another Backyard for science at that $10 price.

Will be interested to see the power dynamics between Goose and Binny’s if Binny’s wants to put in a much smaller order next year to avoid having fire sales like this.

They won’t do it, but I would love to see what would happen if they brought back 4-packs for reg and kept variants in the 16.9 size bottles but brought normal variants to $15 and the “premium” ones to $25.

I honestly don’t think much would change in terms of total volume moved between Black Friday and ~ May. Sure, some variants might move 20% more, but I don’t think it would be substantial. The exception might be something like the 2yr BW from a couple years ago.

Personally, I can’t find ANY reason to pay full price anymore, especially if they keep going up. The last two years I’ve been able to get a full variety for 50% off at Mariano’s. Sure, it’s possible this won’t happen if orders are adjusted but why pay $40 for a box variant when I can just wait about a month for them to be marked down?
