Huh, good point... Has there been an included non-BA recently?

I want so bad for that BW to be good, but tempering expectations based on Double Mash being meh.

I’m thinking double mash was regular mash base blended with just a bit of Thr3e, whereas this is a fully barrel aged bw, fingers crossed

I forgot it was a blend...I thought they'd just reformulated Mash.

Thinking more about the orange wheat wine, it says cofermented...I don't think I've heard of fermented OJ before... Maybe for whatever reason it's really hard to barrel age and so this one is designed to drink fresh?

    Cire (regular not Blender)

Starts off very hot but I've been nursing for over an hour and it's mellowed nicely. Would still be nice if they shaved a couple points off the ABV though.

Overall it's a solid Ani vintage but not a stand out. Body is good - not as great as earlier years but also not as thin as a couple of the recent years. Flavor profile has more of the Bruery tang, which I'm assuming is why I tasted it in M3. But overall a really nice malt profile. Wouldn't be surprised if it improved with age.

Not sure if I'll buy more... kinda want to try the Blender's version first.

Ooh... Double Double is in 375ml bottles... but very expensive... Setting up a real buy tons or none scenario.

Grabbed a taster of M3, has that Bruery tang up first and as it warms up and it gets more sweet, light molasses and ripe figs. Grabbed a bottle.

Also, fulfillment center is closed and you can pick up your cellar request in the tasting room which I enjoy better.

Now that you say it, I feel like there was an email months ago that they were moving toward all pickups in the TR and closing fulfillment center to the public. So this might be permanent.

I see what you're saying about the agave and I usually think of myself as being overly sensitive to that flavor, but I found myself enjoying this a lot. As it warms, the agave and sweetness definitely assert themselves more, but I think it was integrated reasonably well and didn't quite overwhelm the other elements. I thought the Belgian character was actually most in evidence, with the stout adding depth - agree that I'd probably rather have the straight stout and quad blend, but I liked it well enough (glad I didn't load up on bottles, but I wouldn't be opposed to trying more)...

The Anny ales are some of my favorites (and I think super-underrated part of Bruery releases), but the whole Solera average-age thing is showing itself (someone above mentioned sherry character in M3, and that's definitely coming from this) more and more in recent vintages. I still love them, but I agree that it would be nice to shave a couple points off the ABV. Not sure how best they'd go about that (blend in more fresh non-BA ale? Or lower the amount of carryover?) Agree that it will age well - the Anny ales always do, and indeed, I think they're almost always drinking better at 6-12 months after release...

Curious to see what everyone thinks of the Blender's Choice. And Double Double Mash, for that matter...

Wrapping up a 2018 Sunday Sundae that I opened on Sunday (#winning)

It's really damn good. I didn't love it when it came out but FOMO bought more anyway. This is my last one. It is so damn smooth and mellow. The fruit is incredible - very flavorful yet balanced perfectly with the malt.

My virtual cellar now has 12 beers. Any guesstimates on how long it will take them to send it to me in Iowa? I'm going out of the country in a few weeks, so maybe I should just wait until I get back.....

IA is on the current list of states being shipped too... so I would guess about a week (it takes about a week to get to MD now)... but don't sue if that's wrong..

I would suggest emailing them to see if they think there would be any risk or not.

Thanks. One more question, Is 12 the magic number or can I go up to 15?

It's funny, I'm drinking Double Mash right now and I think it's really good. I think Bruery is best when they keep is simple and this is just an all barrel character, Barleywine. Just what I need in my life lol.
