Hello folks! A lovely day here outside. I think I'll chop my lawn. A strap buckle on one of my drum cases broke. Fortunately it's the piece that's not sewn onto the strap. I believe I've found a replacement part on Amazon. Grainger has them as well but only in 10 pks. People hauling my drums don't always use the handles on the cases. They lift using the strap. That's how it happened. The George Hunter Stouts I had last night were gorgeous. That's a nice one to have around. But for now I'll get motivated with something light to keep me choppin' away: Special Export
    Cheers!!

    1) BlackStack Slopes (4.6%): A French Style Pilsner from Minnesota with flavors of lemon citrus, smooth pale malts. Clean.
    versus
    2) Fair State Pilsner (5.1%): A German Pils from Minnesota with flavors of lemongrass, yeast, and dry flower. Bitter finish. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

    Winner: Fair State Pilsner
Minnesota Pils Battle. First is BlackStack Slopes, listed as a French Style Pilsner. Another German Pils varient that uses French grown hops and corn here. Mild citrus notes, soft and smooth. Not as hoppy or bitter as some of the other variations and finishes more soft and muted. It improves quite a bit as it warms. I'll probably do more reviews on this one in the future.
Next is Fair State Pils. Not much else to say then one of the best German Pilsners I have found.
Not really a contest, but I enjoyed trying a French-Style Pilsner for the first time.

I had no idea Tony Iommi played with Jethro Tull. Learn something new everyday. Jealous that you're at Fidens too. Enjoy!

Trillium Pittsburgh Street IPA (Peacharine/CTZ). A nice showcase of Peacharine, which I haven't had much of. Yellow peach, nectarine, lime zest, floral, yellow grapefruit flesh and peel, slight earthiness. Great stuff.

Happy Wednesday BAs! Looks like it's about to rain, so I might be finishing this glass of Paulaner Münchner Hell indoors. Cheers!

I wish more retail places offered a cash discount. I get paid in cash 1/2 the damn time anyway.

Drinking Bud at The Thatcher Street Pub. Thatcher St is named after John Boyd Thacher, and they spelled his name wrong

    1) Hop Butcher Unwind Your Mind (7.5% canned 4/8/24): A NEIPA from Chicago with Mosaic, El Dorado, & Moteuka for flavors of tropical orange, berries, some grape and lychee. Tropical.
    versus
    2) Mortalis Brewing Strange Philosophies 105 (8.0% canned 4/17/24): A NEIPA from NY with Citra and Moteuka for flavors of tropical and juicy pineapple, papaya, melon, and sweet lime and mango. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Winner: Mortalis Brewing Strange Philosophies 105
Hop Butcher vs Mortalis IPA Battle, both with Moteuka. First is Hop Butcher Reply and Unwind. Tropical orange and punch with some overripe berries and lychee flavors from the Mosaic and Moteuka. Nicely done.
Next is Mortalis Strange Philosophies. Citra and Moteuka. Fantastic combination. The Citra and Moteuka balance perfectly with a nice orange/lemon note from the Citra, plus some sweet lime from the Moteuka. This is fantastic.

A mysterious "Blonde" from a fairly large Dutch retail company. 7,5%, dark amber coloured. Tasting more like a brown ale or a Belgian Double.
Vanilla, a bit of fresh oak, wet wood, nice nutty burned caramel hints.
This is not a blonde, but a very good beer.
    Made in Erdtvelde Belgium.
    Then we know enough,
Van Steenberge always have trouble making light beer. And let them forget about blondes.

Transient Inflammable Means Flammable Imperial Stout aged in Balcones Lineage Whiskey barrels for 28 months with melter honey added. I wish Transient did more of the less adjunct beers like this one. The honey adds a nice caramel character to it, but is balanced by the roasty stout and big barrel. Highly enjoyable.
