...ah, now I don't understand...but back to beer: St. Arnold and Real Ale were the beers that stood out for me when visiting my parents in Rockport and readily available in the local HEB...this past March, I was near ecstatic to acquire a 4-pack of big ABV Real Ale beers in Giddings, TX (plus some St. Arnold beer at a local Texaco)...just glad to know that old school TX craft beer still survives...now, if I could just get them readily in Colorado...

Picking up my daughter from pre-college in Providence. Having a Captain’s Daughter IPA at a pizza place. Was told it’s a must-try Rhode Island beer. Cheers!

Covert Artisan Force of Nature BBA Imperial Stout, 14% ABV. Pours thick and black with a ring of bubbles that dissipated before I could get a picture. No lacing but leaves an oily sheen. Ahroma is incredible banana and vanilla. Taste follows, plus rum and oak, almost cloyingly sweet, slightly bitter. Banana all over the place. Excellent mouthfeel, overall world class. Covert specializes in sours, but makes some killer pastry stouts. Comes in weenie 6.3oz bottles, now I know why. Besides being strong, very sweet.

Tied for my #7 favorite beer. Common sense would have been to figure there was a real good reason for the 6.3oz dose, and just have one. My mind doesn't work that way. I have 14%+ ABV beers all the time, so of course I drank both. Damn, the reason for the small bottle is that this is a sipper because it's quite sweet.

Had a "derecho" late in May...no power for a week...I stayed and suffered through it.

Had Beryl come through on Monday, no power this entire week. So, not suffering through it...decided to work from hotel and brewery/distillery hop around TX Hill Country

    Visited:
Acopon Brewing: Excellent cask conditioned beers in Dripping Springs, actually these were as good as what I remember having in the UK. One of the most impressive breweries I have visited in a while.
Texas Cannon Brewing Company: In Blanco, seem like a throwback to old school late 90's, early 2000's brewpubs. Complete with diacetyl and dms in their beers ha.
Real Ale Brewing: Of course, classic Blanco brewery. I have visited here maybe 10 years ago, so this is the first time in a while. Just a good as always. Getting harder to find their classic offerings though. From talking the the people here, they have mostly discontinued Rio Blanco, Full Moon Rye, etc. Their whiskeys are really good as well.

Milam & Greene Whiskies: Distillery down the road from Real Ale. They have good products. Though they make very little of their own juice. More of sourcing/buying barrels and blending them. Which is its own art form. I was just looking for a place that had a bit more local product.
Andalusian Whiskey Company: About two mile the other way from Real Ale ha. The make all their own single malts, and kind of model themselves after Irish and Scotch. I got a bottle of their Stryker to take home, like a mesquite smoked Scotch ha. Really enjoyed them.

Anyway, thats it for my booze travels around the Texas Hill Country this time

Man walks into restaurant with a crab under his arm and says 'do you make crab cakes'?

    Manager answers 'Yes, we do'.

'Good' says the man, 'because today it's his birthday'
