My local Wegmans started stocking Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest last week; cracking jokes the entire time.

I’m honestly shocked because BBC is so close to you. I feel like you would get Samuel Adams seasonal as before everyone else. I have always been able to find Sammy fall pack in July. And the Winter pack in October around here.

They should just start going full troll and release the Oktoberfest beers in September, dated 2025

Heard from a brewer last Thursday that their pumpkin and festbiers were already canned... now that I'm working at a store, I have seen another brand's festbier in the backstock lol.

Something about the size of the operation, I think he said. Or something like that. Gotta get in first on the rush. Even thought half the breweries are doing Xmas in July beers right now.

BBC beer is primarily made in PA and OH so maybe its not so shocking, right ? I went to a large liquor store today that I frequently go to and there was no Sam Adams fall seasonals in sight or any fall seasonals for that matter. I stand by my claim that New England is behind everyone else in this particular area. They are the last region to get any of the new seasonals

Yep. And I think it's used that yeast for a long time.
    @jesskidden
Where? I don't see it on that web page pic of the can. Could it be a strength designation for an ancient state law somewhere?

Didn’t pick it up because still early for me. I’ll start the Octoberfest and fall beer grind in mid August.

It's impossible to emphasize enough how much they ruin that otherwise pretty-decent pack by dumping in three bottles of "beer" that tastes like somebody mixed the cheapest pumpkin pie mix you can buy into a can of bland amber ale.

I don't even want to think about fall yet but if i happened to see Sierra Nevada Celebration at one of my beer stores it is definitely coming home with me for a cookout or pool party!

Yeah, from a mid-90s BBC promotional piece:

So, likely they've always used a top fermenting yeast.

There's no US brewing regulation or labeling law on the Federal level that requires bottom fermenting yeast for lagers or top fermenting yeast for ales or stouts.

Some states (notably Texas) once defined lagers and ales based on alcohol content (mostly for tax purposes) so it was once not uncommon to see labels like this:
The Feds had no problem with such labels.

"Our favorite of all the Octoberfests." World Beer Review.

Do you suppose the use of the"C" instead of the usual "K" is a loophole for their favorites list?

Yup. From the Boston Beer Co. 2023 Annual Report:
(* Milton is, of course, the Dogfish Head facility in Deleware).
And because so much of their barrelage is FMBs and other non-beer beverages, they are again relying on contractors for a notable portion of their production.

Best part about fall beer season is that the sighting of fall beers means that it’s almost winter beer season!
