I’ll have to research this and see if maybe it was a Monson growler. But I’m pretty sure Brimfield. I wish I could remember what beers I got when I went to Brimfield for trips. Maybe Julius once and others were the less known beers I think. But I do remember the beers were so so much different compared to now. But also so much different than everything else out there.

Can you describe what was different? I'd be curious to hear.

I'm pretty sure I went opening day in Monson. Dean warned from the get go that it would kick early and said to put a back up on the card. my guess is they sold the bulk of it in Brimfield then brought the last log or 2 to Monson. Your growler probably was from Brimfield, as you remember. I never got to try it.

Looks like draft prices increased from $8 to $8.41 for beer so it would come out to an even $9 when tax is added. Must have happened this week. Seems other drinks changed slightly too to make everything rounded with tax.

Noticed in Tewksbury, not sure if it's the same everywhere else. Not a crazy difference -- but still a 5 percent increase on drafts.

It’s actually hard to describe since it’s been so many years. But early Julius and I think green physically just looked different, were darker and a bit diffenrt in taste. Not saying it was bad, but they progressed a ton over a very short period of time. If you dig online you can find old photos and see the difference. Definitely wasn’t quite as turbid either.

Gotta say that the Tasting Samples in Tewksbury when you walk in seem to work. It let me try both American IPA Maine and Trail Peacharine. Both turned into to go purchases. The curiosity lager was quite tasty too. That dudes got it all figured out. I can’t be the only one.

    Swung by Charlton for:
Green with mango puree - this is the fun buy, good bitterness and a definite mango funk.
Nitro HOTS - hits more like a coffee stout than anything, is it the batch or the nitro?
American IPA mix pack - tbd but a good idea to clearly showcase their suppliers. Jbrews this is what you sampled.
Silver Fern - wow, very, very good. Most complex hazy I’ve had in a while.

I have mostly moved my purchases to Woodstock. That Amazon facility sort of next to them on rt 20 is unreal, absolutely massive retaining wall and a new set of traffic lights. Zorba’s freaking neon logo is still lit which is hilarious.

It's such a head-scratcher with Zorba's. An empty food service place across the street from a huge brewery that doesn't sell food. Place has been empty for 5 years now, and Zorba's still owns the place. Almost surprised TH doesn't grab it up and turn it into its own pizza place or some shit like that, since they can't do pizza at the Charlton location.

Not sure if this was mentioned before this, but I thought this was a one off. Apparently it's every Thursday through August.

Anyone go to one of these? Are there lines?

I don't go out of my way for Tree House, but I go for runs every Thursday and will sometimes swing by a spot for a beer.

Oh man, that picture brings back memories, and somewhat shameful ones. I can't imagine dedicating that amount of time for 12 cans of beer anymore.

But i certainly did....I think I was at the very last monson wednesday release that was a combo of 6 julius and 6 green. which back in the monson days, that's what you'd hope for on a wednesday. Parking was absolutely insane. The parking folk asked drivers to keep doing a loop until spots opened up, but so many people ignored that request and just kept doing k turns, which caused whatever 'gridlock' is called on a rural two way road in the middle of nowhere.

Beers certainly tasted better to me back. I don't know if my tastes changed, the hops changed, the scale changed everything, who knows. Maybe all three. But I don't get that same distinct taste anymore. Oh well, my waistline much prefers the occasional pilsner or whatever than a couple of those calorie bombs

Well it’s that time of year again. Anyone have the link to that treehouse release spreadsheet? I should have saved it from last time, but of course I didn’t.

not totally TH related, but I'll be stopping by Tewksbury tomorrow. Any good beer lists at nearby restaurants/bars?

How far do you consider 'nearby'?
Best bet for a solid taplist is Tremonte in downtown Lowell- probably a 15 or 20 minute ride from Tree House.

The restaurants right near Tree House have all been slightly disappointing to me.

At that point I’d just head towards Boston.

Why can’t they do pizza in Charlton? I was there the day they installed that giant outdoor pizza oven but never seen it used and I always wondered why.

I'll be coming from Logan, so any recs in Boston or on the way to Tewksbery.
I have plenty of time so could always drive out to Armsby too (I see they have a ton of HF on tap).
    Thanks for the responses

So, I may well be wrong, but I think it's because they'd have to exclude dogs from wherever the food is being prepared and served, and that's an outdoor pizza oven. As I was told, Nate chose dogs over pizza, at least in Charlton, at least for now.

Even more reason to buy up Zorbas, IMO. TH Pizza Charlton.

Monorail from the parking lot over 20 to the former Zorba’s/TH Pizza, bar cart (1 pour per person) with a stop at the gift shop on the way back. It would compliment their Jurassic Park entrance thing.

Assuming time and driving distance are not an issue, Armsby is a fantastic option. Otherwise, I'd suggest Brewers Fork in Charlestown has the best tap list in Boston and it's hard to go wrong with their wood-fired pizza.

If you're seeking HF and don't want to make the drive to Worcester, it looks like Tip Tap Room has three Hill taps (and a pretty impressive list otherwise) at the moment.
