What's this?? "CZECH" Amber???? I don't follow every single thing Enegren has ever done, but I thought they were pretty consistently GERMAN-focused and really didn't play that Czech game.

Not that I'm complaining. I'd love to have a local brewery cranking out Czech Pils on the regular at anywhere near the level of something like Moonlight Reality Czeck. Especially if I could get a keg of it for ye olde side pull at my house! Hook it up, Enegren!

What is the IPA like? I was really surprised to see their post about doing that beer.

I've been having quite a few of the latest batch of American Gold Helles Lager from Burgeon. It's mighty enjoyable at 12 a 4pk.

Found a nice fresh batch of Scrimshaw, bottled July 2nd. God damn this is a good beer. Probably the best Pilsner in the state

Scrimshaw is awesome. It used to be a go-to for me but the market near my old residence stopped carrying it. Great beer at a great value.

I know they used to bottle date their beers, but now it’s just a bunch of random numbers and such. Is there something I’m missing?

The first digit is the last digit of the year and the last 4 digits are the month and day. It's never been any different in the years I've been drinking them

I really thought at one point I remember seeing basic dating. But I’ll go with you, Spidey

Funny you mention it. Just the day before yesterday I was looking at some Scrimshaw at a Total Wine and trying to decipher their date code for a minute or so. I decided to pass, partly due to not wanting to stand there any longer and figure it out, and partly because it was (like nearly all beers at TW) sitting warm on the shelf.

I was also eyeballing one of North Coast's variety packs (a true variety pack, as it had 4 different styles and thank God only one of them was an IPA) but also passed on it for the same reasons.

Why in the world would they go from dating to random numbers? This is stupid. Code dating. F em.

Once you learn the code though, it's not a big deal. And they're always legible.

Yeah, it's always best when it's just "packed on dd/mm/yyyy". But at least north coast is always legible and has the easy to identify "dd/mm"

It's made in the old world way. Less hop more malt and i assum 90% of people prolly won't like it . We need more of these beers.

Person at enegren told me they'll prolly never make it again. :grimacing:

I finally tracked down a four pack of the Enegren 13th anniversary Czech lager, it’s definitely not a Pilsner Urquell type of beer, it actually reminded me of Sam Adams Boston Lager, in between a Vienna and Pilsner for lack of a better description.
I’m starting to pick up a “house” character to Enegren’s malty beers. There is almost a slick viscosity to these beers, that’s both enjoyable and different to me.
