I love that Delta has non-stop flights to and from Seattle and PDX (from/to Amsterdam), but we've had our share of headaches there as well. A couple of times our PDX destination flight was cancelled, apparently because it wasn't sufficiently full. Delta put us on the later Seattle flight instead. Not the worst that can happen, but it kind of defeats the whole point of using Delta in order to avoid any domestic connection snafus.

Going to be flying into SeaTac the 1st weekend of Oct for the fresh hop festival in Yakima. Are there references that list the fresh hop events for Seattle and/or Yakima?

I don't have any additional information about this event, other than to say that in the past the organizers have not been very proactive about advertising it. There have been several years when I assumed it had been cancelled (because I couldn't find any information about it by early September). However, it took place last year and seemed to be pretty well attended (the weather was amazing for October as I recall). Can't imagine why it wouldn't be held this year. It's usually held in mid October as I recall (a week or two after the Hood River event), so I guess I would just wait and see at this point? At present, I can't find any information either way about the event.

Bale Breaker had a IG/FB post where they said the harvest begins in 5 days, so, the floodgates should soon be opening in earnest!

Yeah I have been volunteering for them for the last 6 years or so. It’s always on the edge of faltering because it is hard to find a location that is affordable and has the electricity hookups they need. A few years ago they tried Glendoveer and that didn’t work well so they moved back to Oaks Park.

Wasn’t inquiring about that event as much as sharing a link to a new event which is at The Redd which is actually a good location for this type of event.

Yeah, I saw that as well (thanks for the link). Very curious about the following assertion from the organizers:

"The event will feature a wide selection of fresh-hopped beers that promise to differ from those found at other events in the area this harvest season."

In any event, I'm tentatively thinking of attending. In the grand scheme of things, I know this probably isn't a big deal for a lot of attendees, but I was really struck (and impressed) by the fact you're allowed to bring your own glass to the event (or pay $10 for yet another commemorative glass). The last thing I need is another commemorative tasting glass.

And then gave the beer a pun name for a band that is only known for it's shameful Michael Jackson cover!

Perhaps that's also a Michael Jackson (music) / Michael Jackson (beer) reference?

I had a few FH beers over the weekend between Brews for New Avenues, Beermongers, Away Days and APEX. I have to say, I've been mostly underwhelmed by FH beers for the last few years, but this year is off to a strong start. Both Away Days FH English & American pales were excellent. FH Eliot was pretty good, but that was also after 3 hours at Oysters & Gueuze, so my memory is hazy. Foreland FH Landform was also solid.

Sunday at Beermongers I had Stormbreaker Handfuls of Fresh Hops, and hot damn that's the best FH beer I've had in a while. Watermelon Jolly Ranchers. Reminded me a lot of FH Workhorse from back in the day. Highly recommended if you run across it.

I haven't heard the cover, but I am familiar with the band, and I applaud the pun.

Edit: I take it back, I have heard the cover. And even though I knew the name was "Alien Ant Farm," my brain made me think of "Alien Sex Fiend" (who, to the best of my knowledge, have never covered a Michael Jackson song).

10 day old FH Occidental pils. Just gonna echo what others said; this year is a winner. Even this “stale” can packs some great FH flavor and just a very enjoyable beer in general

Though I can't remember any of their music off the top of my head, I am certain that Alien Sex Fiend is better option. I'm think they were kinda goth / industrial?

Back to the fresh hops: Culmination Fresh Hop Phaedrus - Strata is very nice. It has that strawberry note that I think of when Strata comes up.

Got my first FH brews in yesterday at Structures, FH Vivid. Murky, and the FH aspect was subdued (as fits The City of Subdued Excitement) but it counts. Bring me MOAR!!!
