A fun round of golf today, then some Elevated IPA after the round.

 

1) BlackStack Wedding Season (8.0% no canning date): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Citra, Cascade, & Phantasm for flavors of OJ, pineapple, and mango.
versus
2) BlackStack Spinning Plates (8.2% no canning date): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Nectaron, El Dorado, Mosaic & HBC 586 for flavors of tropical orange, grape, lychee, pineapple, and mango. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

Winner: Spinning Plates
BlackStack IPA Battle. First is Wedding Season. Citra, Cascade, Phantasm. Very rounded, complex, and tropical flavors.
Next is Spinning Plates. Some nice New Zealand Nectaron and HBC586 with some lychee and grapefruit and tropical berry notes.
These are both quite similar. I couldn't diffferentiate them blind other than Wedding Season seems a bit juicier and sweeter, probably from the DDH. Spinning Plates has more lychee and dank berries.
These are oustanding, and too close a call. After mulling it over, I'm going with Spinning Plates, but wouldn't pass up either.

 

Enjoying a Stone IPA - just restocked. Kind of psyched now - National Grid came by today and replaced my meter with a solar meter, so now I just have to wait until they send the authorization out to the installer which should only be a matter of days and then we can fire up the solar system.

 

Howdy folks! Had a nice 90:00 run here in the rolling hills of West Chester, OH. Beautiful day. Time for a friggin' beer. PBR. There's a little tavern a mile away I might wonder off to later tonight...

 

Happy Wednesday BAs! One of my favourite IPAs is now in season, Karma Citra IPA from Great Lakes Brewery in Toronto. I look forward to this one every year and it's as good as ever. Cheers!

 

Fair State Creating Brief (6.1% canned 8/5/24): An IPA from Minnesota with Simcoe Cryo, Chinook, HBC 638 for flavors of orange, tangerine, resinous stonefruit and bitter pine.

First try at this. A 10th year anniversary beer for Fair State. Sort of an American/West-Coast IPA variant. I think they specialize in their lagers, but I'll pretty much pick up anything from Fair State at this point. Nice hop combination. Classic West-Coast flavors. I'm picky and like a little more bitterness, but I'd say they did a decent job and drinks true to style. A classic and pretty much how an IPA should be made.
