At Roscoe's today, with a tray of Gigantic fh centennial ipa, Living haus fh Herman hazy, Silver City wet hop ipa, and little Beast fh simarillo ipa. All are pretty decent, though nothing mind blowing here. Might actually like the Gigantic the most, which surprised me. Interestingly, I mostly pick up fh character on the finish of this beer, which is unusual.

Now finishing my fh day at John's with a glass of fh Sticky Hands. Pretty tasty. Again, I'm not sure if the high abv. helps to showcase the fh character, but this is pretty good stuff.

On the other hand, I'm feeling pretty underwhelmed by the Crux fresh is best and Ruse fh city of echoes apa.

Opened up the Wayfinder/Von Ebert FH Keller Pils with Mt Hood hops last night and enjoyed it. I could tell it had some fresh hoppiness, but not specific flavors I could name. Not sure if that's because I'm wholly unfamiliar with the specific characteristics of Mt Hood hops or if they just didn't have a huge impact. Either way, tasty pilsner.

Starting the beer day at Taps Beer Reserve with a glass of Ft. George fh ipa. Been a few years since the version has been this good. Very enjoyable fh ipa.

Followed this with a splash of Irrelevant No Geography fh ipa (really good), and Backwoods fh outer my space fh ipa (really odd tasting and not in a good way).

Finishing with a glass of pfriem fh WCIPA. Excellent beer. Not as pungent as some, but this is a really good, well balanced, easy drinking fh wcipa. It's the sort of fh ipa that makes me very sad when fh season ends.

It's very weird that this year my favorite FH's have been "unusual" hops this. And Hetty Alice's Italian pilsner with lorien.

Living Haus's FH Dino is a delightful, gorgeous FH beer.

Like a couple others I also enjoyed a FG Fresh IPA yesterday and greatly enjoyed it. I used to think I didn't like Strata, but a couple beers this year may be starting to change my mind (and a couple others still make me question it).

Happy to report that Baerlic's Green Water (Czech Pils with fresh Sterling) is excellent. Great, snappy herbal/lemon hop character, without verging into IPL territory. Easy drinking at 4.8%. Grabbed a Baerlic FH WCIPA and FH ESB as well, which I'm now very much looking forward to trying.

On the FH lager front, I'm still on the lookout for Threshold's Piwo w/Simcoe, which was a standout last year. Anyone had the pleasure of trying this year's version?

A bit of a cross post. Another solid FH effort by Single Hill (Six Sisters still my number one). Hops = “Wet Loftus 586, Haas 1019 and fresh AF pellets of Haas 589 and Haas 1019.” Has a great FH presence non the front and back end.

Not sure if Zeek’s Pizza is any good, but I want to hit it up now. Can says it was a collab with them.

PS…this one may have produced the most amazing hop burps.

PSS…I believe I recognize the 589 hop digits. 1019 is new to me I believe

The Zeek’s Pizza up here in Bellingham is co-located with Fountain Brewing, don’t know if it’s common ownership or a sublet, or whether the Fountain guys were involved or the collaboration was just with the pizza company. But it gives me all the more reason to bip in there (they already have a FH beer using fresh hops from one of the hobos’ backyard). Will update when I know more.

586 now has the official name Krush, and 1019 is hopefully on the same path. I identify Krush as Hawaiian Punch after @distantmantra called it out, and 1019 gives peach gummy rings vibes. Keep an eye out for single hop beers of both, I’ve had multiple of each in the past year so they’re out there.

Funny you mentioned the peach gummy rings…I am not the best at describing what I taste, but between the taste and the burps…yes peach gummy rings.

Also, I have enjoyed beers with 589 in them.

I haven’t seen it again since my top FH beer of 2022, but 1320 is another experimental hop to watch (though not seeing it in 2 years isn’t a good sign).

Look on the bottom of the can for the "w/CITRA" stamp on Breakside's Fresh Hop IPA - Citra (2024).

Lovely fragrance of honeydew and lime juice. LIght body with ample spritz. Tastes of peach, lemon, and finishes with lime rind. Smooth, tangy, and aromatic. Moderate bitterness and a bit sharp in the aftertaste. Totally delicious and one of the best-tasting fresh hop beers I can remember.

When you know moar you say? I will gladly assist. I'm not entirely sure if the Bham Zeeks is company owned or a franchise (I think it's company owned, but I know who to ask (more on that in a moment)), and they do indeed own 'Fountain Brewing'. It's a company owned brewery that was formerly home to 122 West brewing, and before that the gone and not at all lamented Melvin spot.

As it happens, a Hobo, well technically a Hoboette, is one of the brewers there and brewed that beer that uses Justin's hops. I think, but again am not certain, that they send some kegs out to other Zeeks, but I've never seen their brews at anyplace else in town.

By the way... Roscoe's is having their annual fh event/competition today. From noon till 6.

Format is that they're pouring 8 fh beers blind. You pick/vote for your favorites. Was told these are all fh beers Roscoe's has so far not poured this year.
