Hello, friends on BA. In the spirit of our ongoing advocacy for all things (craft) beer, and to satisfy my own gnawing (imbibing?) curiosity, I've decided to start this thread in order to document and track as many Chicana/o/x and Latina/o/x owned breweries in what is presently the United States.* I managed to identify about three dozen, through online searches checked against what I could find by way of articles, publicity, and related documentation. I hope there's many more to add to this list! This will be a running list, and as it grows and evolves I'll do what I can to update it. I'm not a data researcher, or a spatial geographer, or someone who uses spreadsheets in my day-to-day, which is all to say I won't be playing around too much with mapping software or whatnot. I will end up playing around with the formatting and information provided. Do websites help? Or would it be better to link to their BA listings? How about year of founding/opening? Location, too. All in the works! Here's what I managed to find so far. For Chicago: The dude that owns Marz is Korean/Polish. But you can add Monochrome Brewing to this list
I thought it was a collective of like 4-10 people? There has to be more than one owner, right? If only there was a term that encompassed all these so you’d didn’t have to do declension for all…
Eh....the main dude, the President, founder, and the one that's most visible in the media is Korean/Polish. There could be other minority owners and co-founders
