From CA, but have to go out there for work for a week at the end of January. Dont really know where were staying, but anything I should be on the lookout for as far as beers to bring home? Any good bars / bottle shops to hit?

CBE is the best bottle shop in SC, if not the entire South. As far as bars go, there are lots. Try out Squeeze, The Bar at Husk, and Blind Tiger Pub...decent beer selections, great cocktails and fun environments...need any other suggestions on The Lowcountry, feel free to BM me.

    Second on Westbrook and Coast.

I always grab some Palmetto Espresso Porter when I'm down there. It can really only be found in and around Charleston.

House of Brews and Coleman Public House are worth checking out if you are on the mt p side. If you want nothing but local taps, hit Bowen's Island. Best local beer selection, but it comes in a plastic cup. Seafood is awesome there as well.

Definitely agree with Coast and Westbrook but also want to suggest Holy City, just started bottling, and also a trip to the Piggly Wiggly on James Island, 70 or so taps at a grocery store is pretty impressive. Have a great time, cheers!

Some of the other Palmetto beers are worth trying to - Amber is always solid and the Pale Ale and Lager are great staples in the lineup.

Holy City is a good call. I just tried their Oyster Stout and was very impressed, about three pints impressed.

Gin Joint is fantastic if during your week you need a break from beers (they do have beer but the main attraction are the cocktails).

Coleman has great burgers too, my wife and I went after Westbrook for a late lunch and were pleasantly surprised.

Westbrook is a must stop not just for beer quality but friendliness...I went and they were happy to have us there sampling as much as we wanted, and their were a number of beers on tap I hadn't seen in bottles in a while like the Gose. Great experience.

So glad we splurged on that .com!

Also, didn't see anyone mention Closed For Business which is worth a visit if you're on King Street. Holy City is open every day except Sunday, and Palmetto Brewery is open Wednesday (4:30-6:00pm) and Friday (4:30-6:00pm).
