Update on handling regional opening/closing threads

Just wanted to quickly follow up on the recent discussion on "How should we handle regional opening/closing threads?" Based on the feedback, we're going to keep things flexible and simple.

• I've unlocked all previously locked 2024 opening/closing threads, but let me know if I missed any.
• Like annual catchall brewery/regional threads, a thread can be created with a clear title that follows this general format: [name of the city/state/region/country] Openings/Closings [year]
• And there's no rule against threads being created outside of the catchall thread. Meaning that someone can also create a dedicated thread about an opening or closing to create more awareness, as well as post about in the catchall thread. In fact, I'd encourage it with a link to the dedicated thread.

Example: the closing of Cambridge Brewing Company is being discussed in the catchall thread, but I also created a dedicated thread to help drive more awareness and increase search engine traffic to the site.

My only thought is similar to yours: if users identifiy a place that's closed, please report it as such (don't review it as a form of letting people know) and it'll get dropped in the mod queue. Thanks!
