Today's New Breakfast Beer:



This may well be my last year in the Rare Beer Club of Hoppin' Frog - the member's allocation went down from four to two cans of each brew, gas cost went UP (quarter of a tank, round trip).
cost of taking Mrs. Lizard out to dinner afterward - > 90$, four hours out of my life (priceless, now that they don't bother to pack internet orders until you arrive), and there's no guarantee that club members will actually get their allocation. Bend over and hope they can find the vasoline. On the other hand, their high alcohol/barrel aged stouts are my fav brews. So, I guess I'm stuck, particularly now that they've expanded their hours so I can stop on my return runs from TX.

Hello from Chennai, India! (Despite the beer being named British Empire). It’s ultra premium exclusive beer!!

 

Poured into 13 oz tulip glass canned on 10/03/24. Pours an attractive hazy orange yellow with a solid finger sticky white head that leaves thin streaks of lace with nice retention. 4.5

Aroma is massive tangerine upfront with passionfruit, mango, and apricot lending a hand. 4.5

Taste follows like a glass of tangerine juice, with a little carbonation mango, passionfruit, and apricot in supporting roles. 4.5

Mouthfeel is medium, soft gentle carbonation, not sticky or dry, and at 7% dangerously easy going down. 425

Overall love the one dimensional but tasty tangerine flavor, but a little more body would have elevated this beer experience. Absolutely worth a shot. 4.5 Cheers all.

 

The Fall colors are in the air. I love the color of this beer, fantastic.

 

I just traded for some of this. It was so delicious when I had it a couple of years ago. I was deliberating driving up to the CT border to get it but settled for a trade instead. I've been driving way too much lately.

I love a well brewed Baltic Porter but I am somewhat disappointed with this barrel aged one. Being aged in red wine doesn't do it for me, in this case.

NIce morning hike in as usual - pulled a few very old beers from the cellar - this has got to be over 10 years old - still holds up! Must be the 10% abv!
