the odds are very good that it goes to next week (and possibly beyond).

It just so happens that I will be driving up to Hill this coming Wednesday when Art goes on sale. Is this a sells out in seconds kind of thing and I need to pull over somewhere to try and secure the bottle at 8AM?

Susan is definitely closer to Edward in its profile in my opinion. Similar malt structure. Similar taste. Susan is just an amped up version with the some newer hops thrown in. I think Harlan has been updated over the years. It’s a paler beer that doesn’t resemble Edward too much. I put Edward/susan/abner in that core category that share similar threads.

I believe that is the original three beers we all went for way back and seemed to rotate the most.

I always thought of Edward/Abner/Ephraim as the core original 3 due to the similarity of the hop bills and how they debuted early in the brewery's history. Susan came a couple of years later and seemed to come and go a bit due to how hard it was to acquire Riwaka until 2019.

Also I'll cast a lone vote for Legitimacy as my favorite single.

haven’t seen that IPA. Has it been discontinued? Checked it out. It looks like the closest thing they make to it now is Of First and Last Things. Has the motueka and simcoe. Have you had that one?

Wow, completely forgot about Legitimacy, that one was great. Perusing Untappd looks like it last came around in 2021.

Conduct of Life is #1 for me, probably the best IPA ever made in my opinion.

The other beer I really miss is the Works of Love Earl Grey, but before they started brewing it with lactose. Was under 4% abv and was so light but also flavorful. Walden is the closest thing they make now, and I like it a lot but it doesn’t totally hit on what made the earl grey beer so great.

I've had it before, although possibly back when that one had a different recipe. It was the rare Hill beer that didn't have an advertised hop bill before the website redesign and I believe Shaun said on Twitter the first release was Amarillo/Mosiac/Nelson/Citra/Simcoe.

I always thought Conduct was the most "Tree House tasting" Hill beer, though that could have just been confirmation bias on my part since I figured Citra and Amarillo were the main hops in Julius. Then again, I also thought Walden was the closest thing I ever had anywhere to the Eureka series.

FYI: Dedalus as a cheese stop in Stowe and Burlington is no longer valid - they just announced they're closing both locations. Also closed their shop in Boulder, CO. Willy's is still the go to for JH, and Cabot outlet in Waterbury for VT cheddars. Healthy Living in So. Burlington still carries a good selection.

Anyone know if the folks running the bakery at Dedalus Stowe have taken up shop elsewhere? It was incredible, really sad to see it gone. I’m under the impression it wasn’t ownership running it since it got the axe before the shop as a whole did amidst what seems on VT reddit to be a pretty shitty situation.

Anyone else have thoughts on this batch of Art? I thought it was phenomenal, but it was my first time trying it. Perfectly balanced and drinkable, but still plenty of complexity on the finish. Interested to hear how it compares to previous iterations.

Agreed - I think it's fantastic already and it will only get better over the next 3-5 years. The pours that I've had that were decanted really helped. Compared to other vintages, I thought it was less wine barrel forward than b7, but similar to b6 (side by side I'd probably go for b8). Haven't had b5 in a very long time, so hard to say. I did recently have b4 for the first time and thought it was amazing, but I could tell it was already past its peak.

Wife and I went up yesterday afternoon after being out of town for the better part of three weeks, and it was so quiet. It was just us and two other couples; bartender said that it was the most relaxing day they've had since before the eclipse. Had pours of Twilight of the Idols and Mary. So relaxing to pop in on random afternoons during the window between leaf peeper season and ski season.

A couple of years ago I spent a week up that way in early April. It was uncrowded and relaxed, with just enough people to make some friends and have some really nice conversations.

Spotted this guy leaving HF yesterday. Driver coming other way was flashing his high beams at me - it was not because of a cop.
