    1) Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest (5.8%): A German Marzen that has flavors of earthy Munich malts, caramel, bread, and yeast.
earthy Munich malts, caramel, bread notes, and yeast.
    2) Spaten Oktoberfest Marzen (5.9%): A German Marzen with flavors of earthy Munich malts, caramel, bread, and yeast. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

    Winner: Hacker-Pschorr
German Marzen Battle. First is Hacker Pschorr. A very balanced and drinkable Marzen. Yeasty and lightly toasted. Finish is dry.
Next is Spaten. Very similar, but slightly more sweet and grassy. A little light-struck coming through, but overall nicely done if you protect it from the light. Hacker-Pschorr holding up better from a flavor and bottling perspective.

    Up next Guinness Export.

New Hampshire is crafted from a family member from a used bourbon barrel.

An outstanding beer. This brewery originated in 1328 and they donate half their profits to charity. Really cool. [IMG]

    1) Hop Butcher Foolish Fool (7.0% canned 7/10/24): A NEIPA from Chicago with Mosaic, Simcoe & Nelson Sauvin for flavors of tropical orange, white grape, melon, and berries. Clean and dry.
    versus
    2) Phase Three DDH Energetic Mind (8.0% no canning date): A NEIPA from Chicago with Vic Secret and Citra for flavors of Orange, ripe pineapple, tropical melon (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Hop Butcher vs. Phase Three IPA Battle.
First is Hop Butcher Foolish Fool. Mosaic and Nelson, rounds extremely nicely. Amazing hop these hold up with and an an outstanding IPA.
Next is Phase Three. Vic Secret and some Citra. Lots of grapefruit, pineapple from the Vic Secret. Very enjoyable.
Both are excellent, but the Mosaic, Simcoe, Nelson hop combo from Hop Butcher is wonderful and hard to beat. Very reminiscent of MoZee from Toppling Goliath.

We had an early show for the chilluns today, so I've strolled over to Wander, where I'm quaffing their collab with Solomn Oath, a nice Schwarzbier called Nightmare Cyclist.
