That was a nice little surprise. BBT 23 has been my favorite batch over the last few years.

And power to the Quad Bois out there, but I've never been happier to have missed out on a line.

When I saw quad I thought of something like a bigger better version of Firestone Stickee Monkee. Sour quad sounds...less exciting

 

@Heisenbrew told me is reminded him of BBT18, which is high praise. But then again he is just hyping his brewery up again im guessing ??

I had a call scheduled, and didn't even consider checking the site since they advertised it as a package. I really don't understand the lack of transparency or the desire to play "games". Just tell us what will be available.

I'm not "butt hurt". I don't really care. I would have bought one, but it means really next to nothing to me that I missed out. I just don't understand the reason to conceal what they will put up. It isn't a flash sale, it was announced. Just be transparent. We all already play the games of, "sales sometimes happen on Tuesdays around 11am central, be prepared". Just like how everyone was prepared for a potentially unannounced sale of cellar anniversary beers (like brewery last year to LC). But we don't need to add games to more sales. We're in LC. Just tell us.

 

I looked at reviews last night. The UT score isn't as high as you'd think, but if you dig in you'll see most of the low scores are actually from before release, and all the photos are of BBT Rye 2024. People can't read.

 

I agree. Had I known singles would have been available I would have gone that route since I still have 2 v19 Oude Fermiers. Hard to complain I guess since it is one of my favorites but definitely would have passed on the package. Oh well.

 

UT is rampant with false check-ins. It’s amazing honestly.

 

Speaking of Untappd:

The 10 year barleywine has like a 4.79 but half of the written reviews say things like "very sweet" which has me a little skeptical and open to trading it. If people taking 5oz pours find it too sweet I'm nervous about a full bottle.

Meanwhile the stout has like a 4.54 but all the notes say things like char, tobacco, smoky, leather and I am 100% keeping that one to drink myself. I actually wish the stout was a 750 and the barleywine was smaller.

Moral of the story is the score doesn't matter on Untappd but you can find some insight in the actual written reviews
