After the worst football I've seen in my lifetime as a fan (50 yrs) Giants, I need a beer. Make it a new beer....been way too long.
Here's To Feeling Good at the Barn.
Collab between Tilted Barn and Bissel Brothers.
Pours a solid orange-gold with a nice creamy off white head.
Huge aroma on this one: Peaches, Diesel, Passionfruit, Mango and Orange Creamsicle.
Here's the weird part. I was expecting this to be sweet and it def leans bitter. The fresh fruit aspect takes a backseat and herbal green hops dominate the taste here with a piney/pithy bitter finish. A tad of hop burn as well.
Medium heavy body, tiny crispy carb throughout. A bit oily and not creamy. Finishes bitter and dry.
Canned 11/5. I cant help but think that another week or two would have have helped mellow this out. It tastes a bit green. It's not bad at all. Maybe because I'm so fond of these breweries I was expecting to be blown away. I was not.
This was TBs most popular 10th Anniversary brew so I was able to get only a single can. Too bad. I would have liked to try it again. Cheers NBS![IMG] [IMG]

Kinda funny you should mention the Natchez Parkway. I was texting some buddies with updates during the road trip and my buddy Phil asked whether I would be traveling on the Natchez Parkway (we didn't). He is a biker (motorcycle) and wanted a scouting report about this Parkway.

    Cheers!

Brewing Projekt Whipt Imperial Fruited Sour, 8.9% ABV. Pours hazy orange with a slight ring of off-white bubbles that left some lacing. Aroma is pineapple and vanilla. Taste follows, fairly sweet, slightly tart, slightly bitter, salt on the close. Thin mouthfeel, overall excellent.

Enjoying this while waiting for the lasagne to cook. A great trade partner of mine lets me use his address for Jackie O’s orders from time to time. This was from 2020. It’s been sitting in the cold cellar for a while. Bourbon Barrel Dark Apparition.

Pours a deep black brown with minimal head. Medium apparent consistency.

Big bourbon barrel aromas on the crown pop. Dark malt, dark chocolate, hint of toffee. There is even an ever so slight floral aroma in the background.

Similar notes on the tongue. The boubon barrel provides a sharp hit early on in the sip. The rest of the aromas make up the subsequent flavour profile. More chocolatey than anything else. Nice.

The body is thinner than it appears, but isn’t thin per se. Enjoyable.

As usual, a great big beer with a classic BBA stout taste from Jackie O’s. Cheers!

    Good evening NBW
I had never picked this one up until the other day. Took great pains to grab one that wouldn't have been exposed to light, but I guess that six pack had moved around a little...

11.2oz green bottle P:08.04.24 (7 months ago...) E:08.07.25 poured into a pilsner glass at fridge temp 4.9% ABV. The beer pours bright, light gold in color with nearly white head. The head recedes to a thin ring and single layer of bubbles. Moderate lacing. The aroma is mild with skunk up front and pale malt behind. The taste is semisweet pale malt with earthy hop flavor, moderate minerality and firm finishing bitterness. The feel is thin bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, good despite the skunk, but unfortunate packaging choice. I thought I grabbed one the was protected from light, but I guess I was wrong.

S: Bready/grainy, grassy notes, perfumy hops show up as this beer warms up

T: Bready, a bit dry with soapy & grassy hops up front. Sweet breadyness, some grainy notes, lemony & grassy hops as this beer warms through. Finishes with sweet breadyness, some grassy hops & dryness, a touch of lemon & white grape as well

Nails the style, very good drinkability

Good evening, all. Cool and crisp here today. Spent most of the afternoon outside with the grandson. We dug out and sort of untangled the solar Christmas lights, filled bird feeders, and tromped through the woods. Much better than watching the Patriots!

@bbtkd - we found a crashed drone on one of our paths in the woods last year. It eventually fell to the ground from the tree top it ate. No camera and no card so what it was supposed to accomplish is beyond me. The owner sure as shit didn't climb up and retrieve anything and we saw it fall...

Tonight's new beer I found at the grocery store today:

Jacks Abby Extra layer, 6%. Winter fest lager on the can, a Bock on our website.

The picture does this zero justice. It is stunning. Crystal clear deep amber color with a cloud-like very light tan head. The head falls slowly - kind of makes craters as it collapses. It ends as a healthy cap with ample lacing.

The smell is toasted malts, sweet dark bread, a bit of caramel and toffee. There's just a suggestion of Noble hop-like floral and spice.

It opens slightly sweet on the taste with caramel and toffee. The malts are bready and lean sweet. A bit of fruitiness that reads apple to me. There is a slight spice note - very faint cinnamon. I get a little floral and grassy taste and there's enough bitterness to reset the taste buds, although the sweetness lingers a little. The malts are more assertive later in the taste balancing the flavors very nicely. Nice aromatics in the aftertaste - Noble hops or close kin.

Medium bodied, medium carbonation. It'sever so slightly dry and does have a bit of a hop kick with repeated swigs. Mellow and enjoyable feel overall.

Diggin' it. Clean, very slightly sweet, beer with a nice hop balance. Seems quite representative of the style. Nice, smooth drinker - thinking around the 4.2 mark.

Bombastic Brewing's Attempted Murder Vanilla/Cinnamon Imperial Stout, 10.5% ABV; 3.62 overall

Pours a chill-hazed mahogany with a thumb of mocha colored head. Zero head retention & lacing

S: Some cinnamon & vanilla once warm

T: Cinnamon, vanilla, some roasty notes, a touch of cocoa up front, some dryness too. Dryness, vanilla & cinnamon dominate as this warms through, some figgy notes. Finishes a little dry with cinnamon, vanilla & a little bit of figs

MF: Medium body, fairly firm carbonation. Carbonation smooths out once the beer is warmed up

I am not all about cinnamon, although I liked this beer, I didn't love it

Good evening denizens of New Beer Weekend. Tonight is a day of endings - the last Only Murders in the Building as well as Rings of Power.
But this site is not about television shows, it’s about beer!
Thought it was going to be a pastry stout and I guess in some ways it is; there is maple syrup in spades, an inkling of the oatmeal aspect, and an IBU that renders it nearly pointless.
When you have a pastry stout, you want sweet and smooth and this misses the mark a bit.
That said, as a good RIS has a fair amount of bitterness so I’m not very disappointed, merely surprised.
Interesting beer, glad I tried it and glad I only got one.
    Cheers!

I didn't know or possibly remember Stillwater is brewing in Washington State. This one is from @snaotheus

Extra Dry Saison, 4.2% ABV; 4.07overall

Pours a hazed gold with a thumb of eggshell colored head. Nice head retention & lacing

S: Orchard & tropical fruits, a little off style, but I like it

T: Follows the nose, some grassy notes, coriander, hints of Juicy Fruit & dryness up front. More Juicy Fruit notes, dryness, a little green banana & pineapple & phenolics pick up as this beer warms up. Some pear notes & dryness in the finish, along with some rice sweetness, grassy notes & a little pomelo & more Juicy Fruit

MF: Medium body, dialed back carbonation, body thins a bit as this warms, carbonation picks up a bit

Interesting combination of flavors, although low in alcohol, the complexity required me to sip this

I started at in the northern part of Mississippi through the end at Natchez. I didn’t drive the Tennessee portion, and joined after visiting Memphis (Beale Street/Graceland) and Shiloh NP. IIRC, this was in 2005 or 2006.

I went in late October, and driving past the ready to pick cotton which looked like snow in weather in the 70s made this the best time of year IMO. Saw the Civil War site in Natchez, believe I stayed over night there before heading to New Orleans.

I try when at all possible to stick with routes like this, or state routes vs. interstates for better scenery and stops of real towns and restaurants vs. the typical chains along the interstates. I hope they enjoy their trip!

Elder Pine Brewing & Blending Co - Isostatic Rebound
It's a tasty New Zealand-style pilsner. It's classified in the German Pilsner style, which makes sense because I would first call this a German Pilsner that is hopped with Riwaka and Wia-iti. Nice lime zest notes in the background of a clean, crisp, crackery and bready malt pils. The beer has a moderately bitter finish along with nice minerality and a bit of sulfur notes.

Fox Farm - Menuet meerts-inspired ale

    750ml capped/corked bottle served in a Hoppin Frog glass. Bottled 02.03.23. Hand-delivered by @Roguer

Pours a hazy bright whitish yellow with a medium sized, stiff head. Lots of carbonation. Smell is tart, lemon and attic oak, bright floral, dry grass. Some musty, earthiness.

Taste is (I think) more on the saison and lemon soda side than lambic. Definite tartness, but dominated by brett funk. Lemon zest has a strong presence. Oak and grass are there, but overwhelmed.

Mouthfeel is light, dry, very effervescent. Overall, it's not bad -- I'd call it a saison that leans toward lambic.

Note: Went back and looked at some other reviews and saw @Roguer used the word "cheesy" -- interesting, because I ate a couple bites of white cheddar 10-20 minutes before starting this beer, and thought the cheddary vibe I was getting was residual from my snack.

    Well hello Late Night NBW.
A slightly early Thanksgiving allowed me to share this gem (which I have held on for way too long-over 8 years I believe). This one came at at 11% unlike the original listing.
    The Murderous BBA by Pipeworks.
I think I got this years ago from @Czar_chasm but can't be sure.

Wow, this one has at least 8 years on it and it has held up splendidly.Bottle 270/271.
Pours deep brown in color and forms a sandy head that rises shyly and settles into a form ring. Decent retention and slight ring.
The nose is complex. Some bourbon candy notes in the onset, quickly followed by a warm deliver of toffee, caramel, prune, and a mild fruity note along the line of stewed apple. Some brown sugar comes through but with a mild hand.
Flavor follows the nose with a just sweet enough delivery that makes way for some warm, slightly oaky, barrel notes.
Mouthfeel is spot on for style and the boozy warmth is subtle and comforting.
