Fish and chips, no...Fish fry, totally different thing, ask someone from Wisconsin, probably someone who likes Miller Lite and Brandy Old Fashions can tell you about it.

Been there three times and the food has all been outstanding. Never tried the Scotch egg, but from the name, buyer beware.

Wrong again. Best Italian Beef is at Johnnie's in Elmwood Park. But the Pork Belly Fried rice at FFF is fantastic!!

Scotch eggs are amazing when done correctly...but they seem to be the "new thang", and not alot of places are doing them justice.

Big fan of the burgers and fries there. Not Kumas good (few burgers out there are), but pretty tasty

Johnnie's Beef in Arlington Heights is one of best in Burbs. Yum! What FFF beer goes best with Italian Beef?

While Tony's on Pulaski does a good beef, I'm pretty sure the Pop's location at 127th and Harlem has anywhere else beat. Honorable mentions to Duke's in Burbank and Chickie's at 28th and Pulaski, but wear a bulletproof if you go try one.

haha!! I don't get into chicago ever, so Portillos is tops for me, but I haven't had anything else from Chicago. In Indy we don't have great options. However, I am going to be in chicago this saturday, and staying downtown for my wife's 30th birthday....so I will gladly take recommendations for better Italian beef spots close to downtown

    So much this! (Johnnie's)

As that isn't close to me, Al's beef always works.

Poutine. But honestly, as a chef I was highly impressed. As Alewatcher said previously, the portions can be on the smaller side, but I prefer not being served two pounds of mediocre food, I would rather a half pound of quality. Everything I tried off the fall menu when I was there last was very solid.

I love that "River God" sandwich. I also like the Jerky.

I've had the sausage before and liked it, can't think of that name right now.

Whatever you get, make sure it comes with fries...I don't know what they do, but they have the best fries I have ever had...also, the octopus is delicious

I was there yeaterday. Between myself and the lady:

    - ChicarrĂ³n nachos (really good)
    - Pork belly fried rice (great)
    - Triple threat pork sausage (really good; RICH)
    - Brownie w/ bacon, charred marshmallow, Alpha Klaus ice cream (also amazing)

Driving home with two cases of ZD in the trunk was a nice extra as well.

Funny you mention this. It was a while back, but my group thought the fries tasted like they sprinkled Ramen Noodle seasoning on them. When asked, they said it was celery salt, I thought it was more than that. Great fries.

I will also give shout to Joe Boston's Italian beef....

I think the nachos might be the worst thing on the menu.
