Julius has remained my favorite treehouse beer for awhile. I've only ever has King Julius on draft once and I didn't love it. It came off a little boozy, and I just didn't see the improvement over regular Julius. That being said I'm less of a DIPA person. My ipa split is about 75% IPA/ 25% DIPA. I only really touch a hazy DIPA from a few breweries that know how to do them well (other half mostly, since I'm in NYC).

I'm considering skipping out on King Julius cans again on this haul. Need someone to convince me otherwise.

Also, why does GGGreen look so unappetizing compared to regular green? GGG has a little brownish hue. Wondering if I should just stick with the OG

Skip it. You're much better off with regular Julius.

    Except Super Sap :slight_frown:

I have a trip planned for today on the premise that every year of the last few, I've been able to get it this time of year.

Damn! That is a lot of cold brew. Is that one or two week’s worth?

Haha two weeks. We weren’t planning to go back for two weeks. Your intuition serves you well. But, now gonna stop on the way from Boston tomorrow for today’s drops.

As was stated in this thread I believe. This batch of Alter is legitimately epic and has all the flavor and taste of C10 with the obvious hop differences of Julius/Mosaic and Azacca. That treehouse bubblegum house yeast flavor…dear god make more like this:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:[IMG]

Here's something of very little consequence I noticed over the last week or 2, no idea how long this has been the case.

When I crack a fresh can open, a fraction of an ounce overflows, and never retreats back into the can. As if there's just over a pint in the can, or the can was stretched a bit to fit the beer, then the can reset when opened. Bear w Hint, Space and Time, Julius, it's happened on all 3 I've had recently. Is this new? Has this been happening forever and I never noticed?

Had a blast for a couple of hours yesterday in Charlton (aside from the traffic black hole that is the NYC metro). Brought back about twice as much beer as I was planning to.

It's been a year or so since I've had Tree House and I realize I've become accustomed to NEIPAs having this light yellow (not murky) almost luminescent quality (examples from NJ being Conclave, Oakflower, Twin Elephant, and Troon). The (incredible) Alter Ego I had once I got home last evening was an almost burnt orange color that I now realize was the color I had always associated with great hazy IPAs until recently. Nothing profound, just something I thought was interesting. Lol

On my way back from a day trip to Charlton and jeez. As someone who isn’t a huge IPA guy, Curiosity 10 blew me away. Wish I had the chance to nab it in cans. Nabbed some Very Ssappyyy and a good variety of their Christmas stouts instead

Since my buddy was in town we took a trip to Tewkesbury last weekend. Great in house experience on Sunday. I did grab a mixed case to go as well.

I'm getting what I think is diacetyl off the Cut You Own. Anyone here try it and experience something similar? Wondering if it's my palate but something definitely seems off.

I can agree with your observation and assessment. Coming from NYC also, but treehouse - mainly their core beers - seem to execute on this timeless magical quality that is a bit different than the yellow hoppy murk sauce of today. Nate has said that he doesn’t think their style of beers have ever been replicated. I don’t think that’s just him being cocky. I think there’s some truth behind that statement. From someone who isn’t just a haze boi, and while I do love troon, fidens, etc. treehouse just plays a different tune that no one is playing. I’d say the same for hill farmstead ipas. Although they have less of a distinct house character, they toe the line perfectly between a modern hazy and a classic cleaner hoppy beer. After all, these are the breweries that ushered in this style. They’re basically the James harden of step back moves. The rest of the league took it and ran with it.
