This sounds great, but I wish they hadn’t just put out a stout with *checks notes* coffee and coconut.

It's basically vanilla benthic with Side Projects.

Social media posts indicate special SP pours at Half Acre on Friday for the release party of Generational b2.

As @Quilentro noted elsewhere, $20 a 12oz can for something that's probably going to taste a LOT like Benthic is a big ask.

(Yes, I bought a 2 pack. Clown emoji)

“Probably” is doing a lot of work in this post lol. I’ve had a lot of coconut and coffee barrel aged stouts and there’s plenty of variation. Also, Half Acre’s never made a Benthic that had both coffee and vanilla in it with the coconut, so I’m interested to see how that plays.

I guess there’s not as much demand from STL people and other Side Project fans as I thought.

2x4 Benthic (Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout with 2x Coffee, 4x Toasted Coconut and Vanilla)?

I didn’t realize they added the vanilla this year for the first time. Think that’s still a different beast though with the double dosing of the coffee and coconut. Also happened to be my favorite one from the 2024 box so I’m interested to see the difference!

and sold out in 35 minutes.

But is it twice the vanilla? Four times the vanilla? If it's just the standard amount wouldn't that make it 2x4x1?

    Yes, standard amount. 2x4x1 = (2x4)x1 = 2x4

I got heavy vanilla and then coffee when cold. As it warmed, coconut started to shine and coffee. Coffee was prominent throughout which is somewhat unique for HA.

It's Side Project, which means it's a thoughtful amount of vanilla.

Wait, what? Isn't the regular vanilla benthic they release just that?

Vanilla Benthic features coconut and vanilla. In the last couple iterations coffee has not been mentioned as an adjunct.

As far as I’ve found, the only time a vanilla benthic with coffee was even poured was on draft at Big North in 2018. Even later that year at Far and Away it didn’t have coffee in the description. It’s never been packaged with coffee in it, that’s 100% for sure as the first packaged vanilla Benthic was 2019 and didn’t include coffee in the description.
