Giving a little Spark to this thread…

A double-decocted smoked Märzen collaboration between Green Bench and Bierstadt. I gave this above a four star rating in the past, and it stands up to that, pretty much.

A nice smokiness in the nose, with hints of honey wheat bread. The taste reverses that up front, Honey Nut Cheerios with a side of ashen bitterness. The smoke gains a winter bonfire vibe by mid palate, lingering in the back with a hearty bread dryness.

Back-to-back posts with another light smoked beer. The can almost blends into the damp winter background.

Bluejacket's Discreet Charm is pretty lightly smoked, and given the Helles base, that might have been the intent. The smoke presents in the nose as a the camp fire you put out before bed last night and then it rained lightly over night. The Helles fruity sweetness comes through more. The same Helles notes come through on the palate. The smoke tickles the edges up front, and bring a slightly ashy smoke character as it becomes a bit more prominent in the late taste. A nice Helles, an okay, lightly smoky smoked beer.

    What can? HA!

On a sincere note: I am not a fan of the doused campfire smell.

Yeah - it usually doesn't work for me, either; it was pretty muted in this beer, though, so it wasn't as much a detraction as it can be.

First time out for a beer with my son for a beer, no better place out here than Art History.

Good Night Bamberg. Great beer, better company.

This is fantastic! Good for you. And kudos for going with a smoked beer for the occasion.
