    Hi

I m Pat 58, born and raised in France, American for 33 years now, married to my New-Yorker wife for the same amount of time.
We live in the Southeast USA.
My uncle (RIP) gave me the love of beer.
He introduced me to German beer!
He used to go to Germany a lot.
So he would bring me to his house and he would have us try some German beers.
So, yes German beers have a special place in my heart.
I m currently really getting into those German beers, learning about them.
I do enjoy American crafts and other worldwide beers too but Germans got my heart.
I actually enjoy Natural light when i try to be good (Doctor’s order), i know cheap crap but i do enjoy it.
I enjoy strong lagers the most and wheat beers the least, but IPA, dark, amber, pils and the rest are all good.
I love bitter beers a lot but i don’t mind sweet beer too.
How about i recommend my first beer that you can find fairly easily in the States:
    “Tucher rotbier”
    So good!

Auf wiedersehen and thanks for having me.

Nice intro, @Vaindioux, and welcome to BA.

Like you, I also am a fan of German beers, and have enjoyed one trip to Germany so far to experience them when fresh. I don't buy many of them here in The US because they are fairly old by the time they reach store shelves. The seasonal Maibocks and Oktoberfest are exceptions.

Hang around and enjoy the site as much as you'd like. Explore to find all the great features, and have fun.

There’s certainly no shame in drinking what you like.
    Cheers and welcome aboard!

Welcome to Beer Advocate @Vaindioux !

I concur with @PapaGoose03 ’s assessment sometimes it’s hard to find fresh important beyond Oktoberfest, but there are still many places that import quality German (and other countries) beers on a regular basis.

@ATL6245 is a great resource in terms of what is available and where to find it locally. Ayinger is my favorite imported German style brewery. Would also recommend @papagoose03’s German American thread and Google excel sheet.

Not sure if our local brewery Dovetail makes it down to you, but they make quality German lagers and are worth checking out. If you’re ever in Chicago, check out Laschet's Inn to experience a good variety of German draft offerings, and The Beer Temple to pick up the widest selection of imported beers kept properly.

One last recommendation I know you can find is Creature Comforts Tropicalia, my favorite George beer to date (though admittedly with very limited experience).

    Cheers!

Man, it would be awesome if we got Dovetail down here. I never thought I'd see Bierstadt here, but it pops up every now and then. Maybe some day. Cheers!
