Good afternoon, all! At Whiskey Road, Cedar Falls, IA, enjoying a Moon Rabbit. This is a Japanese-style rice lager from one of my favorite breweries: Big Grove, Solon, IA. Light in body, crisp, refreshing, and exquisitely dry. Pairs exceptionally well with spicy Southwestern egg rolls, a house specialty. I'm contemplating a wee dram for the road, so back to poring over the extensive whisk(e)y menu. I hope they have koji, but I'm not holding my breath. Kanpai!

An ugly day for sure. We got about 8" here and now it's changing to heavy rain, which could turn to ice/freezing rain as the temps drop. Then we're treated to 60 mph wind gusts until sometime on Monday evening . Hopefully you or I don't lose power in the meantime.

 

I’ll guess 10-12” here. Just finished the driveway. A quick rest then after moving some firewood, a stout. A big one. Cheers.

 

It's cold here. I'm taking a break from reading in front of the fire so I can watch Michigan beat up on Ohio, @jzeilinger.

Full review linked above, full New Beer Sunday #1043 treatment linked here. WBAYDN treatment, this is a solid Czech Style Pale Lager, tastes great, less filling and strong. Perhaps I'm appreciating the lighter ABVs this weekend in contrast to two weeks of heavy Cellaruary lifting, but this is great and want to enjoy more down the road (first released in 2020).

Congratulations to @flagmantho on your 16th BA anniversary yesterday. Enjoying the trip reports from Japan @TwentyDimes and Belize @Victory_Sabre1973 . Hope your booked through next weekend, after the Arctic Vortex clears. And those Crab Legs look great Vann @Ocalafox !

 

1) Phase Three P3 Winter Lager (5.0%): A German Dunkel from Chicago with flavors of brown bread, caramel, grains. Clean.
versus
2) Hofbrau Dunkel (5.5%): A German Dunkel with flavors of brown bread, caramel, earthy Munich malt. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Dunkel Battle. First is Phase Three. Brown bread, grainy, fairly clean. Very good as usual.
Next is Hofbrau. More complex and authentic German flavors. Smooth, and slightly sweeter. This is excellent.
Winner: Hofbrau

 

Good morning everyone. I’m finishing the last of the Victoria Vienna Lagers that I bought at the Mexican market the other day. I’ve been passing the remainders off, as this beer is the worst tasting Mexican brew I’ve had. If you like burnt malt and bath water, you’ll like Victoria.

Anyway, it was worth a couple of tries, but not a beer to buy again.
