Don't know - I should have used quote marks around Midwest because I was using Bell's wording there.

I'm looking at the list for Oberon day. Any guesses what's in the Michigan Martini Oberon?

    Maybe pickled eggs and paczki?

Ethnically that makes more sense. You could call it a Hamtramck martini but I don't think I'd drink one with those ingredients.

I took a sneak peak at their board (via the online cam) and there’s a little dancing pickle pictured next to it. Based upon this, I can only assume the Elephant Ear Oberon is elephant-flavored.

    Better than Elephant "pickle" flavored:astonished:

The Michigan Martini has left the building, er, board, along with the elephant ear Oberon.

The two flavored/fruited variants I tried were both reminders why I typically avoid them.

Surprisingly, Oberon Light hit the spot! I was expecting something along the lines of a Oberon Ultra, and instead I got a full flavored juicy summer beer, with lots of orange citrus and a touch of toasted biscuit on the finish.

    OBERON DONUTS!!!

You didn't forget to get some, did you? The Sweetwater's here in the Creek usually has them all week.

Might need to make a donut run before breakfast tomorrow. Last year I struck out—didn’t think about it til I was heading out of town, and the Plainwell Sweetwaters didn’t carry them.

I hope your blood sugar levels are normal. They put extra icing on these things to hold the pretzel and orange jelly candy upright in place.

Anyone else finding this year's Oberon to have a sharpness that was never present previously?

I tried the Oberon Light first and found it more sharp than the original, so the original could be suffering from a stunted palate.

Oberon Light sounds like a crime against beer from a faceless multinational corporation. Reinvigorator was quite nice for a monster ABV beer, thankfully drinking more like an Eisbock than a sugar bomb. Winged Wheel show there on Saturday sounds great.

I was pleasantly surprised by Oberon Light when I tried it on Oberon day. On the other hand, the vanilla orange variant tasted like an unholy abomination.

I just had another '25 Oberon and, as a long-time fan, I'm just a little disappointed.

The dreaded "palate shift?" My palate affected by blood thinner meds? Or just, as @nuplastikk refers to it, faceless multi-national corporate meddling?

Either way, I had Oberon last year and was optimistic that it was going to continue to be the beer I've enjoyed for 23 years (I was late to the bandwagon) -- not so much based on the rather sharp aftertaste and lack of rich wheat malt from years past.

The world evolves, but maybe not for the better.

I've only had one Oberon so far this year, and I used it to wash down a couple Oberon doughnuts (post #49), so I didn't notice anything different in the beer from prior years. I'll pay closer attention on my next one and let you know what I experience.

I bet an Oberon would be mighty tasty out in the beer garden right now. (Stares from behind housework.)

Quarter to 6:00 on a Saturday and you're still doing housework? Must be a big house.
