The prices there are similar to Bamberg for food and drink, for certain. Where did you see 3.33€ for 0.5Liter? The cheapest I find on the link is 3.70€ for the Hell.

Right at the top of the page. It looks like you might have to join some membership ("with striped card"), but where's the downside to member benefits at Augustiner?

But go ahead and quibble for .37€ if you're so inclined.

Well there it is. I went right to the beer menu, missed the popup. That's a great price for Munich, it must be a card for frequent visitors.

I am finalizing our week long trip to Munich/Frankfurt. We are planning to use the Bayern Ticket to go to Salzburg from Munich for the day.
the Bayern Ticket is a must if you are planning day trips from Munich. We decided on Salzburg over Neuschwanstein Castle. For another of our days in Munich we are going to check out Andechs Monastery/Brewery, which is about an hour plus from central Munich taking the SBahn 8 train and a short bus ride up to the monastery. Munich is about beer and checking out Salzburg for a day. Heading to Frankfurt for a concert and some beer before flying back home. I'm hoping I can check out Starkbierfest on one of the days while in Munich. If not I'm hoping to check out some of the dark beer offerings at Augustiner or Hofbrauhaus.
    We leave in 2 days...

Guessing Central, not East? Nice walk to Augustiner Braustube.

The wife & I plan on walking a lot in Munich. We usually do around 15-20000 steps per day when we travel. Walk off all the food and beer.

Question. Will Augustiner Keller, Haupbanhof and the others have Ithe special dark Starkbierfest lager at the restaurants at lunchtime? I just want to try it while I’m there. Besides hoppy IPA’s, Schwartz bier is one of my favorite styles. Another place I want to check out is the Löwenbräu Brewery.

My guess is that the Doppelbocks will be available at most brewery-owned locations.

Honestly, I've never seen a Schwarzbier on draft in Munich...things may have changed but it's not a terribly popular style. There are a few available in bottles (Moenchshof & Koestritzer) that you might be able to find at a Getraenkemarkt near where you are staying.

At some places, it will depend in part on how much they've sold up until now. When I was in Munich two years ago at the end of Starkbierzeit, Maximator had run out at the Augustiner Bräustuben, but it was still available at the Augustiner Keller. Starkbier/doppelbock was also available at Donisl (Marienplatz) and at the Löwenbräukeller.

According to their Facebook page, HB Tegernseer Tal (across the street from the Schneider Weisses Bräuhaus) currently has their doppelbock available right now too, if you're interested.

Not to be Capt. Pedantic, but I think you mean Hofbräuhaus? I haven't been to Munich in a while, so maybe the Main Train Station has opened a brewery?

(sorry, I know what you're going through planning up to the last minute for an exciting trip -- too many similar syllables!)

You're better off asking for Dunkel. Definitely more popular in Munich. HB was my favorite.
The brewery merged with Spaten a few years back -- both at the same address I believe (maybe different entrances?).

Now the Löwenbräu Keller is definitely worth a visit. @grantcty

I grew up with Lowenbrau back in the mid 70’s till it was longer the original Lowenbrau and finally disappeared on the west coast. I think I was 16 when I was introduced to og Lowenbrau in Southern California. I was 14 when I was puking out Budweiser almost every night me and my buddies who party. It was all about Lowenbrau and Michelob from then on, with a lot of import bottles including elephant beer. So I’m looking for Lowenbrau draft and cans to bring back home, for old times sake. Memories. I just turned in my retirement letter today. 2 more months. Enjoying life now, and then.
    Cheers! :beers:

Schwarzbier is not a thing in Munich. You need to go north for that.

@dcgunman I don't know about their doppelbock, but I'm pretty sure HB's Maibock will be available as they're having their Maibockanstich program/celebration today.
