Good afternoon BAs! Stayed up late, slept in this morning. Some errands run, now back at the condo packing odds and ends…taking a break for a new beer - TORIS The Tyrant, an imperial RIS from Hopping Frog Brewing Company, Akron, OH:



Best by date 9/10/34. Poured at 54°. Great look and feel. Nose/taste is roast malt/toasted oats. I’ve had the BBA version before, but not this base. A delicious RIS.

It’s already 90° outside. I’ll take a car load to my storage unit, grab a burger, then return to pack another load into the car to go home. Cheers and have a super Sunday y’all!

Happy Sunday, BA. Doing some fridge cleaning having a Seven Tribesmen Hop Gambit. I'm pretty unimpressed with this, hence them sitting in my fridge so long

1) Augustiner Brau Edelstoff (5.7%): A European Dortmunder lager with flavors of
versus
2) Ayinger Jahrhundert Bier (5.5%): A European Export from Germany with flavors of earthy Munich pale malt, earthy honeysuckle and floral notes. Clean. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Augustiner vs Ayinger Dortmunder Battle. First is Augustiner Edelstoff ranked #8 on BeerAdvocate. Smooth pale malts and honeyflower. Complex and excellent.
Next is Ayinger Jahrhundert ranked #4 on BeerAdvocate. Very similar, but slightly more copper and earthy Munich malt flavors. Similarly complex. Really you cannot go wrong with either of these and both among the best of the style. I have yet to find one better than Ayinger though.
Winner: Ayinger Jahrhundert
