Interesting, it’s pretty new here, from what I can remember, it’s been around 10 years. It’s pretty hoppy, right? Maybe there’s more than one product?
My memory is better than I thought, it looks like it was 9 years ago, they put up a lot of billboards around here when it was introduced, I’m surprised that’s it’s only double the price in the US as it was in Mexico years ago. I’d like to hear someone else’s opinion on the beer, I’ve had it a number of times and always found it very “Euro Pils” in flavor, am I the one who thinks that? Estrella Jalisco gets a 69 on this site which seems way too low to me. Maybe they need to add some marshmallows to up the score?
The reviews on BA would seem to indicate you are unique here. Below are some extracts of overall comments: “This has to be the lightest tasting regular beer out there. There’s nothing special about the flavor, but most importantly, there’s nothing offensive. Extremely clean.” And: “Overall: this is a decent Mexican lager. Not as good as Modelo Especial but better than Corona. It’s highly drinkable. It’s as easy to drink as a light beer.” Also: “Seems fresh since there's no skunky aroma despite the clear glass. Just not a lot of flavor.” I personally have never consumed an Estrella Jalisco beer but based upon the comments above my suggestion would be to folks to save some money and just purchase a 30-pack of Hamm’s instead. Cheers!
I just went to grab a four pack and looked at several options, I know location varies but there are plenty of affordable craft options here but then there is this: -Schilling - Leavy (WC Pils) $17 a four pack -Schilling - Dark Mild Collab, I forget the name but it was $16 a four pack -The Seed - I Remember (Throwback IIPA) $22 a four pack For comparison, the alternative options: -Tonewood Brewing - Chilly Bin (WC Pils) $11 a six pack -Tonewood Brewing - Bedford their can conditioned Dark Mild $11 a four pack -SN Torpedo (a beer mentioned in aboves description via social) $11-12 a six pack Overpriced is relative I get it, but to me it is a comparison game of what I CAN get for cheaper and enjoy just as much, if not more knowing how much cheaper it was. I know the breweries may differ but I'm guessing there are still plenty of affordable alternatives to the overpriced beers that are around in each one's area.
Thank you, I did read some of those, it’s way better beer than Modelo to me, so I have to take some of those comments with a good sized grain of salt. I was curious to hear what some of our resident Lagerfiles on this site think of it out of a can. I’ll pick up one myself and retaste it, if any of you lager lovers can do the same and report back here, I would appreciate it.
Anchorage A Deal With the Devil. One bottle, 12.7oz, was over a hundred bucks! A few others are 72. Ummm, no! I don't care how good it is. It's whiskey barrel aged, so not my bag anyway. Amazing thing is that they sell. Rich fu**s actually buy that crap. Boggles my mind.
I wish I could purchase Tonewood beers at my local Retail Beer Distributor for the prices you pay. Apparently crossing the Delaware River is costly!?! Cheers!
??? That seems low to you? Just for comparisons sake, Corona gets a score of 57, Modelo gets 67 and Hamms 69. I haven't tried Estrella so I can't comment based on actual experience, but based on what I've heard and read, a score of 69 seems rather generous.
