It sounds amazing, and I'm not sure why I've not heard of this brewery until today. 1609? That's one of those things that's hard to wrap your head around ... the same brewery operating for over 400 years. Very cool.

    Cheers!

Weihenstephaner Pils. Having it on a sunny Sunday mild morning does feel great.

Bavarian pils and lagers usually are something. This doesn’t disappoint. I like that it’s a medium 5,1% abv and I can take the time to sip it while listening to the Simple Minds on YouTube.

    Respect to German breweries, Prost!

That is a terrific German Pils. Never see it in bottles near me, but there is one German restaurant here in my town that usually has it on draft. It's a no brainer when I see it.

IIRC -- Benediktiner beers are brewed at Ettaler.

Enjoyed an excellent Weltenburger Kloster Asam Bock, Dunkler Doppelbock, yesterday.

I've never seen this in the US so I bought quite a few when I saw this in Asia earlier this year. Being one of the oldest breweries in Germany, I hope I'll get to visit Klosterbrauerai Weltenburg some day.

    Prost! :beers:

I used to get Weltenburger beers at a local specialty grocery about 10 years ago -- always great beers (terrific Dunkel), but sadly, I never see them anymore.

Is the importer listed on the label? Maybe still SH Imports?

Yes! The Dunkel is nice. I used to could get it too. Can't remember who the importer was.

Now that's a brewery/label I've heard of. In fact, it was the only one of the 5-pack I snagged yesterday that I thought I've had before (I haven't, but I've certainly seen that name many times):

Turns out the beer on the far right is American-made ... Urban Chestnut in Saint Louis. Kudos to them for using a very German-importy label.:grin:

All of these are new to me, and while they may not be rated 4.0+ here on BA.com, I'm expecting I'll enjoy the four German imports a ton. Few German imports let me down. Now that I realize the dunkel is an American-made version, I'm pretty excited to see how good it is.

Does your can of Benediktiner Weissbier explicitly list the name of the brewery where it is produced?

According to the website this beer is brewed somewhere in Lich, Germany.

    https://www.benediktiner-weissbier.de/en/

Klosterbrauerei Ettal is located in Ettal, Germany.

    Prost!

Are Firestone Walker Pivo Pils glasses close enough?

That sounds so freaking cool. It makes me want to drink more Ayinger, which I've always enjoyed anyway.

    Thanks for sharing!

    That logo is classic.

I believe the lid on the Krug represents the capitol dome in Columbia.

Fair warning, Urban Chestnut is going through some financial woes and there's a real question they may not survive. Too bad, too, because they brew great beer.

Is there a date on the Dorf? If it's fresh it'll be outstanding.

The brewmaster is a German native and they even opened a second brewery in Bavaria. Can't tell you how business is there, maybe @Bavarican has tried it.

That's too bad. Thanks for the heads up!

My particular can appears to be almost a year old ... date on the can is 24-06-05, so I'm assuming either May 6 or June 5 of last year. That sucks, but I'll make due. I tend not to stress too much over freshness.

    I just poured this one:

It's getting better and better as it warms up in the glass, the banana/fruit sweetness really shining.

Oh ... @JackHorzempa you might be able to read the bottom of the can — brewed in Lich/Hesse by Jhring-Melchior. Another BA has posted about it. I found this bit from @Beer-Panda a few years ago:

"Until 2011 this beer was produced in the Klosterbrauerei Ettal. Because of high demand it’s now produced (so that is since 2011) by Licher Privatbrauerei Jhring Melchior. But still under the supervision of the brewers from Klosterbrauerei Ettal."

    Cheers!

That should only be the canned export version that you all get in the States.

So, you can obtain in Germany Benediktiner Weissbier that is brewed at Klosterbrauerei Ettal?

    Prost!
