I need to have more lagers from them (I’ve had quite a few) but I think their hit rate on lagers compared to Notch is higher than 15-20%. But I assume @wehaveamap would know better than I would.

Can’t comment on the coffee, only had it a couple times, but the comparison to Gracenote is notable.

Yea I’m probably low there. And honestly I’m looking at it like notch you’re more likely to get an A/A+. The vast majority of non dryhopped TH lagers are like A- for me? And sometimes you get a legit A+ like free to roam. What I’m really trying to say is I think they’re def good enough to warrant existing for more than just expansion of sellable options even if we are spoiled in the northeast with some truly excellent a lager options.

I was there mid-May and there was no option to order a full pie. Slices only, which was a real bummer.

This came in a selection I got from the Saratoga brewpub
Not sure I’m a fan of this one…

Yes, but that is due to my dislike of wine*. What resonated with me from what I quoted was that their beers assume greatness just based on the Russian River reputation/name.

Oh, that stinks. Wasn’t sure when I was just there on Thursday because it was so close to closing.

Yeah, I got you on the greatness based on reputation stand point. I have had less RR and I imagine this forum has had less RR than a West Coast person so was asking more about what you thought wasn't great from them.

Do you think the only other comp would be Hill Farmstead?

I can’t really think of any other breweries that people inflate ratings due to reputation (I’m talking Untappd).

I got crucified in another thread, but HF's barrel program (stouts) is incredibly mediocre. TH suffers from their stouts all kind of tasting the same, and trying to crank things to 11 with their barrel aged stuff. For some reason, the mid-atlantic states (specifically Illinois and Wisconsin) have figured something out with BA stouts that no one else has.

Don't drink HF anymore but I definitely feel like their lager program is highly inflated based off what I had when I did drink HF. And that's not to say those beers weren't good.

Popped over to the Pru Saturday, it was dead. Just relaxed and had a Julius which was decent. Picked up a four pack of The Bear which paired fantastic with Dom's Steak Tips.

Also picked up their pre-mixed Negroni, haven't cracked into that yet but excited to see how it is.

I won't turn this into a Russian River love letter, but many of the -ion series beers are so good, I think they're underrated considering Pliny/Blind Pigs reputation (Pliny is the GOAT). Supplication, Consecration, and the Intinction series are among my favorite beers (I love wine, it should be added).

It speaks to the larger truth of being a blindly faithful to anything: There are people who refuse to think a band has a bad song (even when it's clear the new album is trash -- looking at you, Jason Isbell); There are people who refuse to say, "Eh, this beer from Brewery X was a miss." Is everything Russian River does an A+? No way. Is everything Tree House makes "world class?" Despite what untapped thinks, no. And Foxes in the Snow is a shit album and an even worse eponymous track.

I was expecting STS to be mentioned, not the -tion program.
I think the guitar work is pretty good. I don't really want to listen to most of the songs. I like Gravelweed, True Believer, and occasionally, Good While It Lasted. Overall, I'd say it's an album for him, more than for me. The content isn't really for me.

This is very disappointing news indeed. I wonder if they couldn't meet demand on full pies or if they didn't get enough orders with only full pie as an option to justify the underlying costs?

    Today Sandwich says this ...

Tree House pizza available 7 days a week. Whole pies Monday - Wednesday, slice shop Thursday - Sunday!*

    Lobster rolls available Thursday-Sunday

If you click through to the menu, it says only 2 slices per person. I wonder if you are group of 4, if you all have to order separately / all be in line to get 2 slices for everyone.

I don't know what their whole pie prices are but you can usually make more $ selling by the slice. Just sayin'

Yesterday Trail Peacharine on the side pull was particularly delicious while sitting in the sunshine. Tewksbury had a decent crowd but was definitely not the zoo it is on the weekends.

People will probably throw recommendations of their favorites but what are you into? What have you had? I imagine you're not local, so not sure how much TH you've had. Are there particular hops you like?

Julius, Green and Haze are the pillars upon which the TH empire is built - I'd imagine they'd have at least two of them and I'd rank them in that order personally if you can only pick two. I'd start with those if you've never had any Tree House before going into the weeds with the variants and other stuff.
