Howdy folks! I guess I'll open this Monday with a pre-lunch vacation beer in Venice: Paranoia, a hazy IPA from the Delirium Tremens brewery, Huyghe.

Putzing around, heading out later for lunch and a few, then a one night stay at The Cromwell where I’ll hit a few more places as my tolerance permits. Pregaming with a classic.

    Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

Calling myself out for being a bit salty last week when the undated box (distributed in mid-May) yielded 3/3/25 cans, but as usually these held up well, and I rarely get a malt creep until the 5-6 month mark with this well packaged selection. Just wish Hazy Little Thing didn’t replace SNPA on most tap lines the past few years.

I've had Westy12 before and wasn't a fan, this one, however, checks all the boxes.
    It is unbelievably SMOOTH.

    1) Surly Hell Lager (5.0%): A German lager from Minnesota that has flavors of lemonflower with a dry yeasty and pale malt finish.
    versus
    2) Falling Knife Freudenfreude (5.5%): A DDH Dortmunder lager from Minnesota with flavors of bright flower, citrus, and a hoppy, bitter finish. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Surly vs Toppling Goliath German Lager Battle. First is Surly Hell, one of the best and my favorite German lagers from Minnesota. Bright, floral, and crisp. Outstanding.
Next is Falling Knife. Similar, but the dry-hopping stands out. Again, bright, floral and crisp, but obviously more hoppy notes. This is really good as well.
Surly Hell is hard to beat and will go down as a classic and one of the most underrated lagers in Minnesota in my books.
    Winner: Surly Hell
