Anyone been to the tap room? I was not at all impressed by the Pubstitue, but that's all I tried

Yup, and I've tried all their beers. Maroon and Bold by far is my fav but that was a small batch that got ditributed, I did pickup 2 bottles though wish I went back and got more its so good.

Nice tap room, big and open. I like all their beers but Pubstitute I find more refreshing as a second or third beer due to its low ABV or on a hot day (at the Fair).

I really liked the Patersbier, got a growler--it's a beer that I think would please a lot of different palates, it's really unique. Everyone in my family liked it. They give really generous sample pours at the taproom and are very chatty and approachable. Plus, the imperial half pint nonic glasses are awesome. Grabbed a bottle of the Acerbity (Kofi yeast) Berliner Weisse a while back and enjoyed that as well.

I think it was created on an old DOS version of MS Paint. With that in mind, it's not too bad.

This has to be the weirdest description/rant that has accompanied a beer release ever:

I know he's having fun and all, but they could probably use a marketing director. I'm sure they could find someone that would work for beer...

I have loved everything i've had from PDB. My girlfriend surprise me with a Kofi Acerbity at Xmas... will open that along with my other bottle of non-Kofi'd (& totally boring) Acerbity :stuck_out_tongue: Maybe she'll surprise me with the Gose too...

I almost posted the whole thing, but thought the thread might get deleted or I'd be put on a "time out".

The're not exactly wordsmith's and graphic designers over there... But they sure know what they're doing with the beer!

I've been to the tap room a few times for growlers of Pubstitute and Patersbier. Good stuff and worth the trip. Wasn't enamored with Acerbity, but it's not a style I have had more than a few times either.

Just read it, very condescending and awkward.

Is it part of their "bit" that they seem to go out of their way to have terrible logos, labels, and marketing? I'm sure the answer is "it's all about the beer, we don't need that stuff" or maybe it's money, but come on. Look at some of the AMAZING marketing work other breweries around these parts are doing on limited budgets. I feel bad for these guys (unless they're doing it on purpose, I guess).

Completely agree.... it's like they think neurotic attempts at humor amongst the dysfunctional and convoluted quatrains describing this beer style somehow soften the blow of their overt emasculation of their customers' beer penises.

I have seen them use the phrase 'Hell's ya' on several occasions, which by itself makes me not really want to drink the beer. I realize that seems odd, but the entire 'image' of this brewery just turns me off.

Sampled it at a tasting last Friday night. I went into it not expecting much. It ended up being not necessarily the BEST beer of the night, but the biggest surprise. More tart than salty, it had a very forward green olive flavor. Overall, I was very impressed and will have more from PD, despite their poor marketing.
