Spent what passes for the Southern California winter drinking stouts and barleywines. Craving some hoppy goodness so I popped open a 6 week old bottle of Nelson tonight. Holy sh*t what a great beer. Time to head up to the brewery for some more.

I know that people that swear by it...never had it but my favorites have been Blind Pig/lunch/susan

When that beer is good (and I've had some off bottles), it just might be the best single IPA out there. Absolutely incredible.

    Nelson is so *@#$U(@# amazing.

I think RPM IPA and Zombie Dust are quite comparably good.

Nelson gives me wood.... but Duet, Sux and Union Jack hang exceptionally well.

    Sucks isn't a single IPA.

I think Nelson at its best is completely unstoppable. But not every bottle I've had was at its best.

Your right... I was thinking IPA vs Dbl IPA as "single," instead of "single hop."

Fk it...Sux is still fing awesome

Societe's Pupil is excellent enough so I don't need to make the 1.5 hour round trip to pick up Nelson.

I have not had anything Alpine (cue somebody sending me some just because I haven't had any ). Buuuut... Aroma Coma puts me in a coma. Love that stuff!! Drakes just started to distribute in Portland (hint, hint, Alpine) so I can't wait for some aroma coma to be in my fridge ASAP.

I'll cast in another vote for Societe's Pupil over Nelson. It's honestly splitting hairs but if I had to pick just one, Pupil.

    Nelson isn't a single-hop IPA.

What else is in it? I interpreted the OP question as "single hop IPA's" but maybe he just meant "IPAs".

There's a difference between single-hop IPA and Single IPA. I believe the OP is looking for a single IPA (vs. DIPA). Also known as - IPA. And yes, Flower Power fresh is better than Nelson.
