I can kind of understand why breweries like Trillium and Tree House would make so many, as that's pretty much their bread and butter. However, it just seems a bit odd for a brewery like SN to be making so many. I don’t think of them as a "hazy" brewery specialist... not that that matters I guess.
And, at least some US brewers considered adding brett to "improve the flavor and taste" of their ales:
Say it ain't so, Joe!!! Jeebus, I sure hope it's always identified on the labels/descriptions as me & Brett do NOT get along!
First post here...Just had an excellent one from Creemore Springs today; their 5.6% Citrusy Pale Ale. My lady Pamela's cat Gracie tends to approve...Just saying! Have a great weekend; cheers from McGregor! =)
Agree. Always consistently excellent. And a pleasure to enjoy one. And I also do enjoy a Hazy IPA occasionally.
Sweetwater 420 is also very easily found in Eastern Tennessee. It and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale are my go to for the style, as they're always available. Both excellent.
In nearby Windsor, Ontario, we started getting it about a year ago. Last month, I decided to give it a try, and I was very pleasantly surprised. A fine beer. Cheers from McGregor! =)
This one has been around awhile and is also outstanding (underrated IMO). I need to grab some. Thanks @Billet for reminding me.
Yes, you do, see post #21 I’ll get some slack for this maybe but I prefer Philly Pale Ale so Sierra; always have.
You nailed it! After not having it in a long time, I bought a case of SNPA at the beginning of summer this year. I enjoyed the hell out of it and wondered why I didn't make that purchase sooner. Also, Smuttynose recently released an anniversary version of Shoals. I bought a bunch because I haven't seen it on shelves for a long time. It's more malty than SNPA but it similarly hits that "sessionable in hot weather" spot. Neshaminy Creek JAWN also ranks highly for me. Finally, I wish that Victory would bring back Headwaters. Everything with them lately is those endless damn Monkey variants.
It is funny you mention this one because I've been meaning to revisit this one for a while now, it used to be one of those frequent purchases a long time ago but I haven't had it in ages.
It sounds weird at first, but when one thinks about how America Pale Ales have developed into mini-hop bombs, it makes sense.
Smutty released an anniversary edition of Shoals. It came in 16oz 4 packs. Luckily, I scooped up three four packs when I first saw it because it was cleaned out when I went back to the same distributor a couple of weeks later.
