This is not another hazy so I’m all for it, chinook!!! I love perpetual but I hate that it’s 7.5% so I’m all in on this one at 6.5%, oh and chinook :stuck_out_tongue:

I'm good for one, for research purposes. It'll surprise me if it's any good.

That just means that the first beer of the day comes more quickly.:+1:

With the occasional mysterious a$$ date code (if any), you could be getting year(s) old beer. You might like that, others may not. To each their own

You are welcome - seems like "overstating the obvious" to me....but some folks on here like to rail on and on about "freshness", like it is a cult or something.....I am not suggesting beer that is years old will be as "good" as something "fresher" - like a month or three old, but man, this "uber fresh" thing gets old hearing it all the time - lagers - marzens - festbiers - are perfectly fine with many months on them - especially if stored properly. These beers are not loaded up with a bunch of hops, like an IPA or DIPA, which can fade fairly quickly (again, that is pretty subjective, and depends a lot on the care of the brewery during packaging, and how it is stored etc)....if you see an undated Marzen (or any beer for that matter) and are not comfortable taking a risk with your money - don't buy it.

Most of the heavy hitting German import Oktoberfests have legible dates. Paulaner and Hacker have one year best by dates if I recall. Weihenstephan has a bottled/canned on date. You do need to decipher it but it’s not hard to figure out. I believe it’s the same for Spaten and Ayinger.

I admit it’s a little annoying they don’t have clear dates on all of them. That being said they’re usually bottled/canned between March and June.

I’m always a proponent of fresher is better, but I find these taste quite good at least up to six months. Of course this is style dependent as @BeerVikingSailor says, but seeing as these aren’t hop forward I think it’s more than fine.

Spaten has clear BB dates these days, as does HB.

FWIW -- I was drinking last season's Spaten, HB, Paulaner, and Hacker-Pschorr Oktos well into this year and noticed little fall off in character. YMMV.

Honestly, Perpetual and Double Perpetual are the only IPAs that I need from Troegs. That said, I'm a sucker, so I'll be trying this one for certain

As an aside, any use of "hazy" or "haze" in the branding of IPAs makes them a hard pass for me. Unless it is from Tree House, of course.

Was at the store this weekend and spotted some ST Warlock on the shevles - Didn't bother to check to see if it was this year's or not. I'm almost into the fall beer mood.
