Hello!

A dreary, wet winter's day here in Oz is only made slightly better by footy and beer, and while I have no photos of the footy, I can supply photos of beer!

The first one is Carlton Draught, a staple Aussie macro beer that my generation grew up on via the only draught taps at pretty much every pub we ever went to in the 1990s. The second is a beer from India, Haywards 5000, marketed as a Super Strong Beer, even though it only checks in at 6.3% ABV. With only a sweet malt body sitting under that alcohol, however, it does taste far stronger (and, as a result, somewhat poorly) than the ABV suggests.

Anyway, have a great Saturday, wherever you are in the world, and tell us what you're drinking!

Cheers

Good evening Az, dreary winter and Australia in the same sentence doesn’t add up for us. We always picture a scenic and tropical beach when talking OZ.

I am drinking Brassin de printemps. Some honey notes and low 4,5%. Good.

Cheers!

That tropical scene left us in the 80s, at least to my nostalgia-riven brain...

Cheers!

Golden Mild from Bickford Brewing Co.

Overall a fine, sessionable Pale Mild.

Nice open Az from Oz! 1300526]@AzfromOz may be familiar with MLB players from Australia, including Perth native Liam Hendricks, who pitched for the White Sox, including after his recovery from non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Now 1079612]@Shanex , 1306735]@MadMadMike and others might rally behind Mathais LaCombe.

Mathais was born in Libourne, France, and made his Low A Ball MiLB debut yesterday for the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers. Mathias looking to become the first French native to make it beyond the Double A MiLB level, setting aside U. S. Army brat Bruce Bochy, who was born in France (in Bissau-Foret, Charente-Maritime), where his father, Sergeant Major Gus Bochy, was stationed.

Les White Sox de Chicago, nous voila! Bienvenue, Mathias LaCombe!
I will return with a beer, and weather permitting, an appropriate hot dog pairing.

G'day all!

I'm sipping on a Bigfoot 2010. Past its prime? Sure enough but it's very interesting. Finally made it to Barleywine territory, I reckon.

Prost!

Summit Brewing Saga Imperial IPA. It is very delicious after mosh pit training. Thank you, @LesDewitt4beer! We all survived what is now known as Green Bay Blast. A gathering of BeerAdvocates that had its origin in celebrations at 3 Sheeps Brewing, but transitioned to my house, where the logistics are superior. We will do it again next year, 7/17/26 and 7/18/26. The schedule will be the same, though I will add lunch on that Friday at Hagemeister Park, on the banks of the Fox River, for those of you who are able to arrive early. You can join us and depart at any point. The schedule starting on Friday will be lunch at 11am, supper at 4pm, then bottle share. Then lunch at Lambeau Field at 11am, Titletown District walk, bottle share, then oblivion. You have a year to plan your adventure. I can pick you up and drop you off at the airport. Please send me a message to be included in the planning thread. Let this invitation dwell in your thoughts, as you drink beer. Here is the kill shot. It does not include bottles and cans that fell out of or were still in trees, or that I ran over with my lawnmower, over the course of this week.

Good day BAs! Thanks @AzfromOz for opening the day's festivities! Starting this rainy day with another treasure from my recent jaunt to MN and IA:

Thanks France44 in Mpls, MN, for having HammerHeart in your beer cave! That made my whole trip worthwhile!

Von Winterherz Verhasst from Hammerheart. Four pack of 16 fl oz cans, picked up at France 44, 17/07/25, $ 17.83 (Including tax)/$ 0.279 per fl oz. This spent the nights in hotel reefers and daytime in an insulated cooler with other cold cans and bottles. Reviewed 26/07/25 (Review 3554). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Final impression and summation: 4 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated can) Uncredited label artist. In general, not a fan of weissbier or hefeweizens, but a good smoking of the malt helps cure their failings. This beer is quite tasty.
