OK you’ve talked about the TH cold brew so much that I randomly threw a four pack into my order this morning. Your fault it’s becoming popular!

I like their cold brew, but to me they all taste the same. I’m not a coffee nerd, so that’s probably just the same as people saying all IPAs taste the same. Works for me because I just buy whatever the cheapest coffee offering is available.

The lattes on the other hand, are just ridiculously good

Completely understandable, and it does become nuanced. I had a coffee shop in my home town growing up owned by a really great guy. I asked him one day (late 90’s) why is your iced coffee so good? “It’s cold brew, it’s a different drink” Changed my view of coffee and iced drinks forever. I have chased that ever since. Tried it everywhere coast to coast, made my own, had friends make it with me, made good batches and dog shit. I can instantly tell if I’ll like it or not. And I know this is weird, but I (and Em) can literally feel if the body is thinner or less rich. Essentially if it’s thin or watery. Sometimes it just tastes like roasted water and I can 100% tell when someone says they make cold brew and it’s really just iced coffee. Few and far between, but it happens. So to me, I can find the differences and have my preferences. I did knock anyone who doesn’t quite taste it or care. I’m happy they enjoy it.

Yes, the lattes are next level amazing.

To be honest, for cold brew, Trichromatic was a let down this year.

Mochachrome this year, was unbelievable! Compared to the meh 2024 batch.

Aurora is maybe one of the best all around.

House is your perfect introductory cold brew.

Eatrillita is a perfect blend of fruit, dark chocolate and roast. Nate, where the f did this coffee go? This one and the farmers who produce it were one of a kind!

    Paragon itches the espresso bone.

Marigold legit tastes like iced tea in the back end.

Darkside is full of rich dark roast goodness with bakers chocolate.

Big Star is milk chocolate coffee heaven.

Walden is ever so subtly fall spiced and extremely delicate, with its balance of seasonal flavor.

When I get into the single origins they are all over the flavor map and profile wise. Each is so individual that batch to batch it’s hard to compare. But very much worth it. Some I enjoy the complexity of and appreciate the regional and climate differences. Some, I just don’t care for how out there they can get.

Love the enthusiasm for the coffee and I too can remember the specific cup I had that made me realize how insanely good iced coffee can be. Perhaps ironically in this case, I actually prefer a well made traditional brewed iced coffee to a cold brew (though I wouldn’t turn my nose up at cold brew in general and do think the TH cans are incredibly good). Just for me, if you can get the bean to water to ice ratio just right, pour over or drip can knock my socks off.

Any tips would be appreciated. I’m loving my own cold brew (been making it for about two months), but I’m just making it up as I go: grinding some beans and soaking them in a metal filter device in a ball jar for 24 hours.

Tree House content: the Darkside was the one I grabbed twice… loving that shit.

I actually only drink iced coffee (or cold brew) and can definitely appreciate better ones vs not so good. I can’t explain why or pick out flavors, I just know what I like I guess.

Although I said they all taste very similar, I definitely thought ‘Frost’ was the best one of theirs I had. Really enjoyed it. Honestly the price isn’t even that bad (or better) compared to a coffee shp

I’ve always preferred hot coffee - could be 100 degrees out too. But iced and cold brew can be nice on occasion. Looking forward to trying the cans I bought.
Closest by far to NH is Tewksbury. And it’s nice and all, but hanging there, despite the workmanship and attractiveness of the building, isn’t nearly as fun as the other locations. It’s a public nine-hole golf course next to a McDonald’s and a busy Super Market in a middling suburb.

Definitely not the closest. Tewksbury is for us, and given traffic it’s not even close. We can be in Tewksbury in about 45-50 min. Our drive to Charlton was around 2:45 last week. So Tewksbury is our coffee run. We just get it in when we can once/every other week. We had the chance to drive out to Charlton Friday, as it’s our favorite. However, the staff in Tewksbury are great and we’ve never had a bad time. Just witnessed some questionable and crazy shit. Which I’ve shared, but it didn’t ruin my trip.

Same, although I've pivoted more towards iced in the summers lately.

I feel you can pick up the nuances with hot coffee over iced coffee/cold brew. It's no different than with beer. The colder the beer is, the less you'll pick up on subtle flavors.

Don't get me wrong, I love cold brew, but if I have a bean I really care about I'd probably use my Chemex or V60.

I could be totally off base too. I used to be REALLY into coffee but sort of fell out of it just as cold brew was becoming super popular. Still drink a ton of coffee but I'm not picky these days.

Regarding Tree House iced coffee, I think I've only had Monochrome a couple years ago when they first started. Thought it was fine. But it's been talked up so much here I might make a trip to the Pru to get some.

Also a hot coffee person. We have cold brew in the office from a reputable roaster (Atomic) but I prefer hot and just do pourover at home prior to coming in. Most of these really hot days, I'll pass on it because carrying water for the walk from North Station is more agreeable versus hot coffee.

Gotta check out the TH iced coffee at some point. Loved when Gracenote had their fast chilled iced coffee cans, but those were kind of prohibitively expensive.

We vacation every summer in Portsmouth, this year we rented a house a few blocks from pirates cove beach,, used to stay at pebble cove by Odiorne point for 20 years. Anyways we could pass by both Charleton or Tewksbury on our ride from NYS

If you are just picking up, Tewksbury is great. You don’t even need to get out of your car.

The Charlton location is right off the highway. The Tewksbury location is like 10-15 off the highway, depending on when you go. I'd probably stop at Charlton. It's a better set up too IMO.

I’ll defer to you on this. I don’t visit either enough to know which is best for pick up.
