Reply to @Specialmick from yesterday. I discovered KC burnt ends on a business trip to Overland Park in 2011. Jack Stack BBQ and Brobeck's BBQ. I was hooked from the first bite. Only one place in Georgia I'm aware of to find them so I'm teaching myself how to make them! Cheers!

 

Is the Kuro Prison Stout referring to that harsh prison in the North you mentioned b4? And how is it btw? Not the jail, but the beer

Yes indeed! The Stout is very drinkable. More like a stout-lager hybrid. Light but complex. Coffee and dark malts. American palates would find it too mild but the Japanese brew their beer for food pairing and this would do so nicely with a lot of fried or smoked food. Not sure how much of that was served in the local prisons though.
