I can't even count the amount of times that I basically drank all night for free in NYC because I was with a group of locals that tipped well. Absolutely fabulous, that.

Long time ago 40+ years, I would go to the bar our gang frequently drank at on a Saturday before noon. This was back in the days when collage football was a noon and a later afternoon game that was televised on a national broadcast. The day bartender was also one of the local bookies and you put in your bets for that days games and line up the Sunday NFL bets for the following day. I never paid for the drafts I consumed on that day, if the owner poked around for a bit at the bar, the bartender would take one of the dollars you had up on the bar and give you 4 quarters change like it was a real transaction. Our gang went to this bar just about every day so we didn't feel guilty about the special treatment, we spent lots of money there. Of course the bartender made out like a bandit with a big tip and the bookie business. Ahh to be young again.

I know we tromped through some of the same territories at some of the same times, but this was never a thing I saw around me (Rochester area/Upstate NY). If you were on very friendly terms with a bartender, they might throw you a freebie once in a while, but the 'buy2-3, and one's free' just never seemed to be a thing I saw.

    Agreed on these two points
Being from an era when beer was served in 7-9oz glasses, the move to pints when 'microbrews' came along was a change, but missing an ounce out of a pint isn't a big deal.

The skull thing has worn itself out. Same as the hippie shit did a while ago. Now there's all kinds of cartoony shit.

The skull/metal aesthetic isn't brutal, or intimidating,, or scary, or badass. It's boring and cartoonish.

Our skull crushing releases this week: 11% Triple Hazy IPA with Citra, Mosaic, Sabro, and Riwaka and no bittering additions, and a 13% Imperial Bourbon Barrel-aged Oatmeal stout with Graham crackers, marshmallows, cacao nibs. A couple of skull crushers that worship Mammon and will flay the skin off your face!

In the bars, yes. Not in the breweries and craft beer places.

Here we have skull and skull crushers on the same label, thank you Anchorage Demon Boy. Art is a step up from VD Ranger, at least. I'm tempted to start a thread "Post your best stupid skull."

Again, definitely not my experience. Just last night I got a buy back at a brewery and beer bar. Places I go often, so that doesn’t hurt I’m sure.

Agreed. At our regular breweries, my wife and I have had plenty of "buy backs". YMMV

Am I supposed to “like” the unpopular opinions I disagree with? Or the popular opinions I agree with???

pretty fair amount of both in there!
