Other NZ hops. By single-IPA the OP meant "IPA" vs double or tripple IPA's.

You'll have to send me some for a blind tasting. Alpine Brewing is 20mins from me.

If any beer could top Nelson it is Duet, but Nelson edges it slightly. After that is probably Kern JO IPA.

Nelson is pretty much king in my books.

Alpha Supreme from Beachwood BBQ & Brewery is pretty close! IMO. A very hoppy pale ale full of Nelson hops. Maybe the closest to Alpine's Nelson.

MacNCheese is dead-on. I was trying to distinguish single IPAs from doubles and triples. Gotta try me some Flower Power. Wouldn't think that would be too hard to trade for.

Nelson is my #1. Close runners-up (in order) include RPM, Pupil, Duet, Alesmith IPA, Blind Pig and good Sculpin.

Hell, I'd rather drink Nelson than most DIPAs.

They should come up with a beer called Pure Exponential Nelsonness.

Isn't that what Keene was? I like your name better.

I got me some Keene right when they tapped it at O'Brien's a few weeks back, and I didn't think it tasted anything like Nelson. It was wonderful, but i just didn't see the Nelson likeness.

I think they may have fudged with the recipe a little from the Toronado Anniversary beer to Keene Idea. I had the 25th Anniversary at the pub and it was like Nelson on steroids...unreal. With that being said, Keene Idea is amazing as well.

Agreed. Keene is decidedly different from the Toronado anniversary beer at the release party. Less crazy dank, for one thing. I preferred Nelson to both, though.

There are many other IPAs I would prefer over Nelson.

Duet, Zombie Dust, and Furious are about as good as it gets and it comes to single IPA's

Nelson is without comparisons, plain and simple. Truly a unique beer that has that Alpine " terroir " that you can only get from Alpine's beers. Everything else is battling for second place.

    Cheers....
