Highland Park Brewery is going to have Fresh Hop Hello LA sometime in October as part of a kickoff for its new canned beer membership.
If you happen to be in Julian this weekend Nickels Beer Co has 3 fresh/wet hop beers on tap at their tasting room. If you’ve never been, it’s a great little tasting room.
Anyone local want to split shipping cost for North Parks Strata Rocket, fresh hop cans? Shipping is crazy at $22 for 4 4pk. I’m going to place an order for Kern’s Wet Exit also. Shipping is free for a case or $12 for under a case. PM me if you’re interested.
RR dropped theirs this past weekend. Really good WCIPA. Sante adairius dropped theirs yesterday. Haven’t tried it yet. had a bunch in Oregon, but it was a blur. People raved about the brujos one.
i would but i live far from you. Wouldn't make sense I always look at KRBC strong ales and Reds, but never pull triger cuz I'm never home to sign
Based on their Instagram, looks like they'll also have a fresh hop Timbo and a collab with Bale Breaker Brewing and two hop growers.
Cheeky Sunset just dropped ASAP on draft. Doesn’t look like cans are listed yet. That’ll probably drop tomorrow. I can wait till tomorrow to pay them a visit.
HpB is one of the MOST OVERPRICED breweries in the city. I live a 20 minute walk from them and haven't been there in about 4 months. 3 drinks end up being close to 40 dollars .The pricing for BA pours is a fuckin joke, they aren't even good. Idk how they keep the membership going...i imagine a massive circle jerk of past middle aged D9dger Fan dads and Adderall wives ( joking, chill out @annakarina ) Their singles cost wayyyy too much at asyores as well. A Timbo Pils SINGLE AT handy Market is 5.99 meanwhile everywhere single IPA is same price. Imagine your PILSNER costing more than an everywhere DDH IPA. IF and When Monkish opens those guys are in fucking TROUBLEEEE
In my opinion and respectively: HPB > Monkish. Also, take a look at recent Monkish prices as well. $22.50 for a DDH IPA 4-pack. Uhhh.
You are both correct. Can we get back to fresh, sticky hops? I did a tour de ocean beach today and my conclusion is we are early in the cycle, relatively few fresh hop beers. I was hoping for better.
Back from Green Cheek SB for their release is fresh hop A.S.A.P. as Possible. Instead of fresh I would say this is more like a wet hop. Smooth, creamy & slightly dank. Instead of a ton of fresh hops they managed to stuff a ton & half of Strata. First fresh hop for me this year. There suppose to be 2 more fresh releases. Krush and Mosaic. Never had fresh mosaic or krush. Should be interesting. Strata’s good, but getting old, like me. Last word before I left, they were out of asap cans at the SB location. Restock tomorrow?
I'm hopefully going to be stopping into Russian River's Windsor location 2 weeks from today, will be interested to see if they have any FH stuff on at that time. Local taproom has one FH pilsner from Occidental Brewing on right now.
Nope those hops are still “wet”… they haven’t been kilned yet and are still full of moisture so calling them “wet hopped” wouldn’t be wrong. The bigger debate this year (as in previous years) is where the wet hops get used… in order to be first to market a lot of breweries (especially in Oregon) dry hop with wet hops or wet hops that have been frozen and fractured with liquid nitrogen. The character from this is completely different than if you used them on the hotside. Think lots of watermelon rind or cucumber.. green but not grassy. However the issue there is those beers tend to fall off pretty quickly, especially if they ever get warm. We brew them both ways but the wet hops in the DH are reserved for draft only kegs for in-house consumption.
