Surprise canning! Loved it when I had it on tap last night! It's been years since CM even did a Fresh Hop beer and now they're going all out!
Like most fresh hop/wet hop beers, it's a bit on the mellower/subtle side, which I quite enjoy! I find myself being unable to properly describe these kinds of beers, other than a whiff of dank. They don't slap you in the face like dry hopped stuff.
I haven’t done many hazy fresh hopped IPA’s. Only when I was in Seattle a couple of fresh hop seasons ago. I prefer clear west coast fresh hops. That said this one is pretty good. I wouldn’t expect anything less from Monks. Splitting the 4pk with a buddy. Only need 2 cans n done.
my least favorite, so far. It’s only been 4 fresh hops I had in this dry state. Didn’t say it was bad. Stills still taste good. It’s very mellow on first smell and first taste. Even after my forth taste it’s more of a mellow bitter taste. But in between I’m getting some slight sweetness. This is the opposite of asap.
I was at Pizzaport Bressi yesterday, they got 1 keg of Wet Lamborghini from Solana Beach, it was great, had a pint and then got a take home crowler. I have yet to find any other wet hops around here. I called GC Oceanside they sold out of ASAP, haven't seen Kern Wet Exit cans but I keep looking. Burgeon is releasing a FH XPA and a FH IPA today so I will have to make my way over there. Grilling steaks tonight and needs some FG accompaniment..... edit, Mother Earth is releasing Fresh as it Gets today.
Another fresh hop drop for OC. This is my second year in a row of trying Radiants. Again, one of my favorites. Canned Monday or the week of 22nd according to the can date. Get em while there fresh.
I’ve liked this one the last couple years too, it’s on tap at a spot up here right now so I might try to make it over tomorrow.
Arrived just in time at my local. I was going to head over to Windsor CM. No need now. I’ll have one later today. I don’t think I had this last year. But many times before. Good one. There was two 4pks left inside the cooler. Noah, who is good people, is not knowledgeable with beers so I had to explain about fresh hops and fresh hop season. He does have a couple of guys working for him who do know beers. Anyways, he said he will get a couple more cases of F2F in. Mr Kegs in HB.
It’s sad that CA doesn’t have more fresh hop beers like Oregon and Washington. Maybe next season we’ll have some more.
I don’t recall this tasting this great. Fresh canned on the 15th. Freshest can pick up since scoring in Seattle a few years back. In the past it has been over a month out when I would get some. It was more bitter malt than bitter fresh. This years batch is very good. Just gotta remember it’s a Pale Ale. A great pale ale.
Ghost Town released their fresh hop Slow Cure yesterday, and its tasting great. Pretty close to the quality of the PDX fresh hops I've been drinking for the last couple weeks. Green Knuckle at Cellarmaker Oakland was a huge disappointment, it was bland and boring. Stopped by Sante for the Fresh Hop Chinook, and wasn't impressed, earthy and weird and lacking that fresh hop punch. I'm gonna strongly disagree with this description of fresh hop beers. They *should* slap you in the face with grassy stinky hops, that's literally the whole point. Get ahold of the Breakside fresh hop beers that have been floating around the bay area to see what a proper fresh hop should taste like.
Stopped by Taproom Beer and had their Church of Chill and Damp. I am going home with a 4 pack of Damp. It was telling to me I didn’t know it was a fresh hop beer. It was good but not grading on a fresh hop scale.
I was hanging out with @snaotheus yesterday and i brought this up He's had THIRTY fresh hop beers so far, down from 70 this time last year . I don't even think CA does 10
