Check off another local fresh hop on the limited CA list. This is another fresh hop Krush. I think this one is just okay. Nothing like Green Cheeks Bags of Yes. Why would they use Krush Cyro is a fresh hopped beer? I think the cryo in this one is giving me a little off taste. Buddy and I split a 4pk. Let’s see how it taste in the can a week or so later.
after 2 Washington FH hazy ipas it’s time for another FH. But this one is a FH west coast. So good. Better.
At BLAH they had a fresh hop event this weekend. Several Gigantic, Little Beast and a beer from a brewery in Lithuania called Sakiskes (which I am starting off with). Can’t say much about it other than I got to tick a random country and its not bad. I’m expecting a lot more from the rest of the menu
Highland Park Brewery announced on Instagram some fresh hop releases for this week. Fresh Hop Timbo Pils on Oct. 7 and then a fresh hopped West Coast IPA on Oct. 10.
Thx for posting this. Next week should be their fresh hop HelloLA. I will be there Tuesday or Friday.
I’m there this Friday for sure. Fresh hops release. But daddy is an early to bed and early to rise guy. So I’ll be there at opening. Plus that traffic back to north OC is fuk’d up. I’m hoping Timbo fresh hops release will still be on tap then. I’m sure cans will be long gone. I got a can of GC Bags Of Yes if you do make it on Friday.
Unfortunately I'll be In Brussels , but i will definitely PM you when I'm back. I prefer day drinking over anything so your style fits. Also.... do i call you daddy?
Haha. Good one. Not on our first date. I’m probably older than you. I’m sure you have all the places dialed in for Brussels trip. It’s been 11 years since I was there. Fun trip, even for a hop head like myself. Are you going to Bruge too? Of course Cantillon. I brought back 12 bottles. Still have 1 bottle left.
Fremont Fresh Hop Lush is on tap at BottlecraftLB. This is the first time they used fresh hops in Lust, which is pretty good already. I had the fresh hop Lust in Seattle last week Wednesday.
Either my palette is toast, or I'm simply underwhelmed by the FH beers I've had this year. So far: Green Cheek- Bag full of Yes- best of the year, pungent and very good. PP Solana - Wet Lamborghini - first one I had this year and it was tasty but not mind blowing. Burgeon- Same Day Service- just an average good wcipa. Burgeon- High Key- XPA, just ok. Fremont - Field to Ferment- this usually is fantastic for me, it was just another average beer. Sierre Nevada- Northern Hemisphere Harvest- malt bomb, super sweet, nothing I think of when I think of a FH beer. So is my palette toast or do others think this years crop of beers is not outrageous?
Had the last pint of Ghost Town FH Slow Cure at the Hop Grenade and it was still really good. One of the few good bay area FH beers I had this year, though I definitely didn't get to them all.
Had all of these except Lambo and Sierra Nevada and mostly agree. Bag of Yes is one of the best fh beers I've had this year and I spent three days in PDX doing nothing but drinking fh beers. F2F I thought was good but maybe not as good as previous years. I've often found the fh beers made here in SoCal are not punchy like many of their PNW counterparts. Bag of Yes has changed that.
Agree with Bags or Yes. My favorite from CA so far. Speed Of Now is second and ASAP third. I’d give Wet Exit number one for a fresh hopped for bitterness. I’m going through half of the cans I brought back from Seattle right now, so my palate is probably thrashed too.
Finally met up with some buddies for Aftershock and collected some fine fresh hop options from the Norcal/I80 corridor. The GT Citra and OP Simcoe ones shine, but the Moksa one might be the most intriguing/unique of the bunch.
Stopped by GC Orange a couple of hours ago and had a pour of "A Bag Full of Yes!" fresh hop since they were out of cans, as mentioned earlier in this thread by dcgunman. I found it to be very good. However ... Also stopped by Everywhere and was able to pick up cans of "Fresh Leaves" wet hop, along with some cans of "Where it Shifts" chico style pale ale (whatever chico style means. Does it mean it is in the same style as Sierra Nevada's Pale Ale? I don't know). Well whatever it means, I had a can of it and liked it quite a bit. Anyway, since this is the fresh hop thread let's get back to the "Fresh Leaves". I'm drinking a can of it (poured into a glass of course) right now, and honestly I think I like it better than the Green Cheek "A Bag Full of Yes!" pour I had earlier. Think the fresh hops aficionados out there might want to give this one a try. Cheers!
I did have everywhere’s Fresh Leaves on tap at the source and split a 4pk with a friend. It was good, but for me it left a small chemical taste at the end which I’m thinking it’s from the cryo added. One of my other good friends had it out of the can and loved it. He put it up there with Bags. Lately cryo has been a hit or miss for me. Maybe it’s the age? Meds? Palate fatigue? I haven’t opened up a can of FL which I will probably do today. Maybe it’ll taste different out of the can.
