Picked up a four pack of Green last Thursday canned 9/22. Was four days old when I had the first can, it was very uh, Green.

How long should I sit on this to let it round out?

Can anyone recommend some standouts from the current lineup of lagers?

Their second run at bourbon is about to drop. I remember their first batch years ago was not received well by people on here. Wonder how fast it’ll sell out

I wouldn't serve batch one to my worst enemy. I don't say this lightly, it's the worst whiskey I've ever had, and I've had a lot.

Thats wild. I wonder what happened? I'm guessing it was pretty rushed and only aged for the minimum 3 years? I would imagine this one will be a lot better based on their track record of improving things... hopefully.

The cold brew seems to be hanging around a bit longer now that it's not summer. Thankfully.

It literally tasted how the sawdust they use to clean up puke at elementary schools smells, with a lovely note of harsh white whiskey on the backend. Anything should be an improvement.

that's quite a vivid taste memory!

I love whiskey and I passed. I find most smaller, micro distilleries just can't pull it off. It's usually very raw and harsh, "flinty". They might pass in a cocktail where they're buried in sugar and bitters but they're very rarely "sippers". Wasn't the TH batch 1 also like $40 for 375ml?

    It sure was.

I'm in agreement with you on that too. To be totally honest, I'm mostly a Scotch guy, so there aren't a lot of small batch places there. I do love an independent bottling though.

bought tickets for the October in the Field event and I gotta say, I’m quite disappointed compared to last year! Was banking on them teasing and releasing info on more special drafts and guest breweries.

They had 10 special stouts on draft and SP even brought BBT yet I’m only seeing 3 special stout drafts this year so far.

Dave the Janitor never got the credit for how hard he worked. Also cleaned up sawdust puke without batting an eye.

In all seriousness I always wondered what happened to him? I do know the weird shop teacher who dressed in his 70’s brown suits and absolutely drilled my friend and I senior year in my car, at 3pm, piss drunk, before graduation. Died at some point not too long after the car accident. This was how I learned about DUI’s having to go to court to deal with his garbage.

    Ahhhj the sawdust puke memories

describing that sawdust flavor makes me think of most small-batch american craft whiskies

I too am a scotch guy and don't really bother with bourbon, so I don't know a bunch about small batch american whiskey...I'm curious about the sawdust flavor though...I wonder if it's a common thing to use wood chips to get oaky flavor faster or something?

Rittenhouse Rye always has a spot on my shelf though

I remember Joe the janitor (I think that was his name anyways) who played mandolin on Halloween, not sure that I remember Dave, unless I'm confusing the two.

I'm totally blanking on that shop teacher's name. Not Mr. Yanoff, he was the other one. The one you're talking about though once made fun of the lamp I made to another class, actually naming me, which a friend then told me. So fuck him.

I wonder if batch 2 is a new batch or batch 1 just aged longer.

I was kidding with a BA member as we went to the same elementary and high schools, diff years. And was vaguely referencing about a teacher who was drunk at 3 pm on a random weekday and drunk drove his car into mine. I hit my head and my friend hurt his knee. Car was fucked. Glad I wasn’t killed before graduation. The guy died at some point not too long after all that. Oh well. This should clear it up.

I only posted about any of this as he referenced the saw dust used to clean up puke at school. I too know that sawdust from the same school. Ha
