I definitely don't dislike the beer, it's just not what I wanted. I think I was hoping for a normal Czech/German pils year-round (a la Summerfest) and instead I got something that leans modern and at least 1/2 new world tasting to me. What I do like are those little cans, though. For all of the trends with craft beer swapping over to larger formats, I'm all for drinking this stuff straight from those little cans. I'd welcome that format in 6 or 8 packs for a variety of styles.
I really liked the Lawson’s Pils and also FW Pivo quite a lot as well. I still haven’t seen SN Pils in my part of MD and was even at my favorite craft beer store in Waynesboro PA the other day (scored some FatHeads and Dancing Gnome, and SN Harvest Ale which I didn’t see on shelves in MD), and the PA store has not seen SN PILS yet either. I’ll probably see it in Md once a distributor moves old stock from a higher volume area into my area once it’s 90+ days from canned date. That’s kinda how they seem to roll. For example I just Saw a Jack’s Abbey mixed 12 pack in a local MD store the other day that I never saw before in my area and was excited by the offerings in that pack. Canned on date was February 2025 and they just moved it into the area (or from a store I don’t frequent perhaps). That one had to stay in the shelf.
picked up a pack last night, but didn't get a chance to try it yet. Looking forward to giving it a shot tonight when I get home from work.
This beer in cans was released on August 8th and I've been watching my two favorite beer stores for it to show up with no success. I finally used the beer finder to see which stores are getting it. There are 29 places listed in a 50 mile radius and I discovered that I've been looking in the wrong places. Of those 29 stores, 26 are supermarkets or grocery stores, two are beer stores (neither is here in town) and one gas station c-store. Are most of you buying it in grocery stores? Does this placement strategy indicate that the target market by SN (or the distributor) is the family food shopper? I may be going food shopping tomorrow.
I spied it for the first time ever at Meijer store in Hudsonville today. Didn't pick it up, might next trip.
I haven’t found it at any of my usual Michigan haunts. I finally picked a can up in California. Figure it will make a nice closer—the beer after the beers.
Great beer. Would drink/buy again. Great for weekdays when I just want to wet my whistle but can’t decide if I want to commit to a whole 16 oz or even 12 oz can of beer.
Yeah, Meijer dominated the search list results that I referred to above. Sometimes for certain beers it seems like Meijer makes some sort of sweetheart deal with the distributor to have an 'exclusive' for the first round of deliveries before any place else gets it. I'm not the grocery shopper in our family but maybe I should be.
I’ve bought a bunch of 8 packs at this point, all from grocery stores, Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s. I like that Whole Foods keeps it refrigerated, Trader Joe’s doesn’t.
It's 1/4 liter, so a standard size. I wouldn't buy them. If I want a small drink at home I'll open a bottle and drink part, then stopper the rest for the next day. But other people demand convenience and fizzy beer, so we're destined to live with packaging proliferation. I don't think the 8.4 will be popular enough to replace package styles that I prefer. I do like 12 oz bottles, and cans are displacing those. I especially dislike cans 16 oz and up since they are bigger than my single serving size.
sounds like this is finally making it around. Found some locally, it's a good lager. I have to agree with the disgruntlement on the can size. This is a beer I would love a full pint of.
Which is no big deal if you're buying an 8 pack (just pour two cans if you want a pint), but if you're accustomed to just buying individual cans, it's not optimal (imho).
