I would not have expected it to just be dead. Now I really wish I was there - that's the worst part of event weekends is you can't just sit there and quietly enjoy it. It's always a mad house.

Seeing Side Project release 5x12oz BA Vanilla stouts for $250 (if you bought them all) the same week as Half Acre release 12x12oz Ba adjunct stouts for $200 makes it such an easy call where to allocate money. There's too much good stuff out there to spend $50 per beer unless I think it's going to be something truly remarkable and even then it's becoming harder and harder to sell me on $4+/oz

Also not that important but SP's instagram reposted some influencer picking up a BBT package and the RBBT is not waxed even though it is in all of the photos on the site.

Well this isn’t quite true. In 2023 you could walk in and get a seat on the Saturday of the cellar anniversary. They were selling 10 candles for an hour after they opened it was so slow.

I cracked an original bottle two weeks ago. Still banging, while not quite its peak goodness. I crack one every year on my daughter’s birthday. Got at least two more years of it lol.

Wait are they letting you pick those up now? I thought pickups started after Thanksgiving.

Influencing me to at least ask the question while I'm there.

I asked and they pointed at the sign taped on the bar before I could finish my sentence, lol

Figured I was too early, but also thought it'd be easier to pick up everything at once on the rare instance I'm in STL.

Tuesday and Wednesday bottles are still available, no limits on any of the releases.

Great point. Toppling is always a mad house on release weekends, understandably so. But I've been a few times on a random weekday and it was so peaceful. I brought a laptop with me once and just pounded brews and worked for 4-5 hours. Heaven!

I would guess that -- since said influencer was getting early access nearly a month in advance of public pickups -- it was probably just the case that Rye BBT was the last of the trio to get bottled, and they just haven't dipped 'em all yet. I'll be surprised if that's still the case when public pickups begin.

Does seem worth noting that the BBT Package is still up a week later, and seems like it may be on track for the trajectory of the 2023 package, despite having a much better ratio of malty beer vs. sour. The 2023 package was 25% BBT and 75% saisons.

btw @AlexIrigoyen totally agree with your point about the Cellar double-vanilla bottles vs. Half Acre value. I even had a little *shocked pikachu* reaction when I saw the price tag for D21 at $82 after tax. Woof.

I mean, I did still buy one, so y'know duality of man and stuff I guess.

I think Derviation 750s have been that price for years. I had D16 on site and it was $75 pre-tax 3 years ago.

For what it’s worth Cory was making self aware jokes about expensive beer while talking about BBT 2025 last night

Had it at the most recent library tasting. It was well past prime. Shame that someone will drop $200 for it.

Y'know what you're totally right. Too late to go back and edit my comment, but that was a dumb remark on my part. A pox upon me for a clumsy lout!

For some reason I thought D20 was cheaper, but I looked back at my receipts and it was the same price. Just got back from a pilgrimage to Cantillon where everything's dirt cheap so I need to readjust my beer-o-meter for Side Project pricing structure lol

Side note: I found a very cool bottle shop in Paris (Liquiderie Cave) that was selling a few Side Project saisons: La Ruche 10-year, Framboise du Fermier and Rose du Ble. The price tags on them were hilariously high but that was still pretty cool.

Influencer or not, SP isn't given me shit for how I've talked about Derivation Grand Cru.
Speaking of ratios, wasn't last year perfect? Continuance + BBT. It was 100% malty beers for the price.

I'll be quite open and say 've considered buying a second package this year for the first time ever. I'd get another BBT and Rye BBT to show for it, and this comes at a time that I've been dipping into the cellar and sharing more sour beers with a friend. If packages are still available to buy during pick up, I will grab another.

Cantillon on-site prices will spoil you for sure.
