A good Pils deserves a better Pils is how the saying goes, if I remember correctly.

    Damn, that's really pale.

Right? Hard to get a beer that pale without the use of adjuncts while getting it up to 5.1%.

When fresh, it’s an amazing beer. This is BB January and quite good.

I’m still trying to figure out what “UCL action” might be.

    Ultra Clear Lager?

UEFA Champions League. Football. Or soccer, if you must.

@JackHorzempa and I have discussed before how nice it is to have local breweries who make German style beers well. We can get a fresher beer than the aged imports we tend to get. I'll have to brag on Round Trip Brewing here in Atlanta and their Dunkel Platz. They release it after Oktoberfest season and I look forward to it every year. Very well crafted and spot on style. Prost!

Eibauer Zwick'l Naturtrüb from Privatbrauerei Eibau with getting toward the last of the dahlias.

Pleasant wheaty taste with a tangy finish. Malty in flavor and just sightly sweet. Lush and sudsy with creamy carbonation. This doesn't appear unfiltered but it does have a more robust flavor than the Hells of the world. Warm yet tangy, some spicy notes, and a bit of greenery in the aftertaste. Overall this is another excellent beer from a brewery that would remain invisible except for the distributor who put together this Costco Biergarten box idea.

I have a soft spot for Spaten Oktoberfest, as it’s the first Oktoberfest I ever had.

First semester of college, my German professor brought in Spaten Oktoberfest and apple strudel for a classroom Oktoberfest celebration. She was fully aware that most of us were not of legal drinking age and it was very much in her personality to not care about that inconvenient fact a single bit.

Just a reminder; we have just exited peak German style beer season - Oktoberfest. But there is a beer for every season. Don't forget about all those higher gravity bock style beers for the winter months! I hope to see more of those styles over the coming months. Btw, one of my Christmas Eve traditions is to enjoy a bottle of Schneider Weisse Aventinus. Keep enjoying and posting those German style beers!

Is this an offer to launch the 2026 Appreciation thread on January first?

I am in Texas now visiting family and friends. Got here via a road trip with one stop being Hot Springs, Arkansas. We have a favorite German restaurant there and we went there again for dinner and beers. My first beer was Schneider Aventenis served on draft. I am a BIG fan of that beer.

    Prost!

One of us will. I was surprised I was able to launch it as late as March!

I'd love to try that on draft. We have a pretty good German restaurant here in the town I live in and I don't think I've ever seen it on draft there. Maybe I should ask sometime. The bottles actually turn frairly quick here and many stores keep it. I've never tried the cans. Probably should do a side-by-side sometime. Prost!

I haven’t tried the cans yet either. When I visit my local Retail Beer Distributor I see the four packs of cans on the shelf and look at it longingly but then I see the price below it…

Maybe I will buy a four pack as a Christmas present to myself this year!?!

    Cheers!

    I will tonight!

Heading to Wursfest this evening with my wife, sister and friends. Many pitchers of German brewed Oktoberfest. You won't believe (well, maybe you would) how much a pitcher of Paulaner (or other) Oktoberfest costs.

Plus we get to watch/hear good music as well:

    Prost!

Dang, I drank a lot of Schneider's years back but haven't had one in ages - this looks great I'll be on the watch for it

The Ayinger Oktoberfest Marzen was the gold standard this year (says I) - maybe the best I've ever had and I've had several
For German style in Ventura County, Callee-fornia there is first and foremost Enegren Brewing in the lovely town of Moorpark , a must visit for lager lovers of all ages (95%of the beers on their board are lagers)
