Less than 5 or 6 years ago, I used to easily find Tap7 in multiple stores. No it's gotten more difficult. Hope you can find it.

For me, Ayinger Märzen hard to beat most years. But, BA's have personal preferences for Märzen that can vary.
Even over here in GA, Energren has a good rep for largers. Never had any from them myself, but I understand them to be top tier. Prost!

That wonderment could be good or bad when you're at a popular festival. Do fill us in.

Nice! That Hofbrau Maibock reminded me. I've seen that in Atlanta maybe one or two spring seasons in probably about eight years. I recall it was very good. Would love to see it again. Maibock is one heck of an underappreciated beer style by most BAs.

That stinks, it's such a good beer. But FWIW, it's definitely not the typical Maibock -- much more robust than what you might expect. Which doesn't make it wrong, of course.

Went to Wurstfest last evening. Bought a pitcher of Paulaner Oktoberfest:

Enjoyed drinking that beer from our insulated Bethlehem Musikfest mugs that we brought down nine years ago, while sitting in the Big Tent listening to a band play German style music (waltz, polka) and more contemporary music as well.

And later on some sausage (wurst) and potato pancakes for our evening meal. And later some funnel cake for dessert.

A good time was had by all. And we are going again this evening so more beer/wurst/music and other frolicking.

    Prost!

Wow, compared to the price for a Stein that pitcher price is a bargain. Thanks for enlightening me. Enjoy the sauerkraut too.

A woman next to me at the picnic table was eating a sausage with sauerkraut sitting within a pita. My wife called it a 'sausage boat' due to its appearance.

    Prost!

Mmmm. I'd slather that baby with mustard and wash the whole thing down with a Helles.

Agreed. That stein price (a liter I presume) seems a bit high, but sounds like it's just that kind of event. I'd still pay it rather than buying shiner or some of the macros.

Maybe the stein is only 8 ounces different than the pitcher.

    Munich drinkers are laughing.

The Stein is a souvenir ‘glass’.

    Prost!

Mensch Meier! Yer kill’n me Jack. I wonder if @champ103 might enjoy an event like this. It’s not too far down the road from Huston. Is polka-jazz even a thing? H-A!

St. Marienthaler Hefeweizen from Eibau. I will be sad when this costco cornucopia finally runs out.

Aroma of clove predominates. Mouthfeel is rather watery with prickly carbonation. Less sweet than many Hefeweizens. Finish is quite tangy. Aromatics last long into the aftertaste, expecially the spice. Distinctly bitter with a spice note rather than any hop flavor. Overall this is quite quaffable for being less thick and sweet. From the 500ml can.

Here is another world class German beer, Weihenstephaner Vitas Weizenbock 7.7% ABV.
Fruity aroma with clove and banana flavor with a soft mouthfeel. Barely notice the ABV at all. Another one I would love to drink fresh.

Instead of BBA stouts or DIPAs, bock beers and Belgians are the direction I lean when I'm in the mood for some higher gravity fair.

It's been quite a while since I've had that one but recall it was quite good. Takes me one pint minimum to get acclimated to the smoke flavor though.

The smoke in this is super nuanced for me and even lighter than Human Robot's rauschbiers(I had recently) which pack way more smoke-punch than this one. The smoke adds a heartiness/subtle rustic character to it. I could gulp down liters of this Schlenkerla..
